Do I need to?

You seriously think that it is the (presumably) free and single women who sleep with married footballers that are 'slappers' who are 'breaking up families'? Did the poor ickle married footballer have no say in it or responsibility for it? How can you possibly say such women are 'worse' than the footballers who decide to cheat on their wives and families?

They could employ at least three other actors for that sort of money, and I dread to think what Antony Cotton is getting.
It's about quality not quantity given how bad Maddie, Kal and Kal's daughter are. Deirdre/Anne Kirkbride is wonderful and is worth every penny IMO

Time for them to update her belt though

Well said Jade. The blame the woman thing is so misogynistic and the worst thing is this is even perpetuated by other women

You'd think Men had no minds of their own. **rolls eyes**

The show earns ITV a fortune, this is only fair to a long standing actor

Deirdre's had her day in Corrie. Useless character played by a plank of wood.

I have no probs with deridre well anne, getting that amount of money but for god sake i think she should have to earn it abit more, she needs a good long running solo storyline, shes been in the background for far to long, and when you think gails pretty much the same age and is in most eps and audreys like 300 and shes still has me rolling on the floor laughing,

Her character was quite good when Ken was away; hope they don't revert to how she was with him.

Oh no, I'm sensing another Big Bang Theory esque debate about if they deserve the money.

I have absolutely no problem with how much TV stars, footballers, pop stars, etc. are paid, since the portion coming from my pocket amounts to a fraction of a penny a year.

Corrie wouldn't miss her IMO...........I can't relate to the character in any way i.e doesn't come accross as real potential person that you might meet in real life and when they do give her something to do it tends to end in over-acting.

You're right of course. I mean who else would have her?

Oh I like Deirdre, she's a real Corrie stalwart and I'm glad she is earning good money from it. Hope she stays in Corrie forever.

Not surprising she gets her contract renewed as she is one of the 'untouchables' along with Gail and Emily. Having said that I quite like old Dreary who has gone from the Street's top totty to a batty woman in late middle age. Her constant puffing on her fags and wearing unsuitable clothes to show off her leathery skin in HD are a bit offputting though.

You're definitely in the minority!

From what I can recall, Sue Nichols is only 7-8 years older than Helen Worth! I was surprised when I found out.

She's worth it

Don't forget she pays tax too

Where does she pay taxes?
She lives in a villa in Spain and flies into Manchester when required for filming
She is Coronation St, remember the Weatherfield One campaign that even Tony Blair got involved wtih

Presumably she pays tax here. She'd have to spend less than 90 days a year over here to have any chance of avoiding tax here, (and even that's not clear cut). No way is that possible for her with her Corrie commitments.

I know it seems like it but she is not on screen that often
Of course, that nice Gary Barlow pays taxes here, doesn't he

Well I still think that with rehearsal time etc she spends more than 90 days a year here, but in any event, as we have no clue about her tax arrangements, it's probably best we don't fall into the trap of tarring every celebrity with the same brush, (particularly since none of them are actually doing anything illegal because successive governments have kindly provided all these loopholes for the rich - famous or otherwise).
