Does o2 still use lossy image compression?
Back when I was an o2 customer with an iPhone if you used the default iPhone APN as provided by o2 images were noticeably compressed.
Is this still the case by default or have they woken up to it being 2014? If it is, can you still get around this by changing the APN without penalty? I'm looking to purchase a SIM only contract and put that SIM in the iPhone 6 when it comes out. Thanks. |

Yes. it still uses image compression. And I believe changing the APN gets rid of this

yep, you can bypass it by changing the username in the APN settings

Thanks for the reply guys, as long as I can still access the APN settings and change it to the mobile.o2.co.uk/bypass setting like I used to then that's fine. o2 never cared before (with respect to charging). I guess this brings up a relevant question: if I was to use an operator like giffgaff or lyca who run off the o2 network do they come with their own custom APNs which won't be affected by the compression? |

Why do o2... Just data reduction? Do they count the original file size for your data allowance?
