Katie ED, past her shelf life?
Katie Katie Katie.
What more can be done with Katie? Am I the only person who feels like its time to kill the tart off? |

Emmerdale hasn't had a 'who's the Daddy' plot for ages*. She'd be perfect for that. Every man in the village would be in the frame.
*unless I'm forgetting/blocking out something really obvious. |

I always thought she was one the best actresses the show has but never really used right would love to see her tackle some hard hitting stories like sort Stacey gets in EastEnders. |

No CR I agree with you. She is just a bike, shes been round that village more times than that, there is no character development either, what can you do with with a serial bike other than ride it. The only thing that could be done would be for Perdy to return with that baby whos now a kid and even that would be like watching paint dry. Shes just a pretty face on the wage roll and serves no other purpose than to be pretty and get laid by the latest unattached male in the village.
She rarely does anything with that riding school of hers either as she spends most of the day stalking andy to reveal his 'feelings'. Those horses must be knee deep in shite by now. |

I dunno, I quite like Katie. TBH I don't really see her a bike, although I do like to joke sometimes because I enjoy a bandwagon. I think she's quite a normal, balance character and soaps do need those. I've always said (since I started watching ED again since October 2013 ) that they should bring in Robert again. He was a great character, it would be nice to see her family appear as I remember her dad being a tosspot although looking at comments he's probably dead

Not quite. We had one of my favourite soap cliches 'She may never be able to have kids...'. They are always loath tomake it definite, as it ties their hands.

No OP. I like her more now.
She went through a rough patch when she was with the Maceys and Adam but i think they're doing a nice job with her now. She works as a normal woman and having no kids or family all these years shows there's still plenty of scope for development. Her business is a problem because that is hardly ever shown and that might be down to costs? A pity her non sexual relationship with Steve didn't develop as that had potential. I read on here she's well thought of by cast and crew so she's not kept just because she's pretty. That's a bit insulting to someone who's lasted this long. Mia Macey was just as pretty. |

She is just the current clone of Sandie Merrick and Kathy Bates.

There's not a single sentence in that that I disagree with! Haha! ![]() I've always liked Katie and I've always thought Sammy was a decent enough actress. I'm liking that they've moved Leyla and Vanessa with her and they have that young females, not tied down by husbands or babies vibe going to them which soaps tend to inflict on women regularly for sensationalism. If they ever do decide to give Katie a kid in the future, I hope it's for character development and not just because they can't think of anything else to do with her. |

You could say that about Andy. Such a boring and unlikeable character. Maybe Katie and Andy could leave together. Either that or they could bore each other to death!

No still plenty of mileage for Katie they should bring in some long lost realities are both her parents dead? How old would her kid be now she had with Grayson Sinclair

Katie Katie Katie.
What more can be done with Katie? Am I the only person who feels like its time to kill the tart off? There are lots of storylines they can bring in for Katie, her and Andy could plan another wedding, Robert could return, she could try and explore ways for her to get pregnant after her injuries, general family life, her and Andy could try buying back the farm.... As a long time Emmerdale fan I am definitely rooting for her and Andy too, it's nice that they've been brought back together, plus I'm glad some of the characters that have been in the show for as long as I have been watching are still in it. So my answer is also no, it's not time to "kill the tart off"!!! |

In response to the initial question, no i still enjoy the character of Katie and think shes still relevent to the show. In fact shes probably my favourite character so will always defend her position on the show no matter what. The character isn't to blame for why her popularity is only ever middleing to fair on a good day. The blame is with the producers who always seem to overlook her when decent, long running, innovative and exciting storylines are handed out and shes usually left with a predicatable love triangle where shes either cheated on (Ryan with Maisie; Andy with Jo; Declan with Charity) or is made out to be the villain of any piece just to garner sympathy for another character (Bernice, Adele, Megan). I always feel like the producers actively try to encourage viewers to not root for Katie, which is strange as Sammy Winward is like their media poster girl, she should be being pushed as more a heroine of the show rather than just some bit part pretty girl. Shes the Dales version of Michelle Keegan, i just wish the producers would show as much interest and respect to the character as Corrie did for Tina, but i have a feeling the current producer thinks that sticking her back with Andy and Bernice bitching about her is the same as giving her a proper meaty storyline.
I've said it for years but the character needs some much better and varying storylines. I've always thought a major illness would have been a good character development storyline for her (probably won't happen anytime soon what with Brenda and Donna both recently battled it). Maybe also introduce her Mom, she could do with someone sticking up for her whenever someone decides to call her names and explore their relationship. They need to make her fiestier as well. Not bitchy, SB tried making her bitchier and it didn't work as shes essentially i nice girl, just give her a few killer put downs once in a while, i'm sick of her just smiling and taking any flack the likes of Bernice, Megan, Victoria, the milk man through her way just because shes a push over. On a side note, it always annoys me about how much people go on about what a 'bike' or 'tart' she is. Shes been in the show 13 years now, and yes she has had a lot of love interests but apart from David and Nathan, shes either been in long term relationships with them or married them. Its not as if she slept with them all in one week and decided she was out of men. The double standards annoy me. Andy has probably had just as many (probably more) love interests over the years and so have Debbie, Chas, Charity and (maybe not to the same extent) Moira, yet they don't tend to get half the criticism that seems perfectly acceptable (both on here and on the show itself) thats aimed at Katie. In fact only a few weeks ago there was a huge debate on how wrong it was that Moira had been 'slut shamed' in the show yet whenever Katie's called a trollop or a tart 9 times out of 10 people tend to think its funny and that she somehow deserves it but when its done to anyone else its not justified. Sorry about the rant! So no i don't think Katie should leave basically!

I LOVE Katie, but I do agree with you she doesn't really do much, she needs a fresh storyline which DOESN'T involve men

I find myself kind of liking Katie recently. Not sure why, I used to hate her, she was so Princessy. Now, she's a bit vanilla, but she's not bad, and she works well with Andy. The stuff about his abusive past, when they were sitting on the stairs, was really good.
