EE after the 30th aniversary
Ok, so every storyline going on in EE ATM somehow all link to one another and will build up to the 30th, unfortunately the way things are going, I can't see them getting massively high viewing figures, or winning many awards, which is a real shame, so after the 30th aniversary, who else thinks they need to up their game a little more? It's been great this year, dtc has worked hard but needs to work harder, it's beenuch better than 2011,12,&13 but I think alex lamb needs to use his imagination more!
The show before 2010 was very good and had a lot of very popular storylines! ATM as good as it might be, there's not a storyline that stands out for the nation, maybe who killed lucy but that's it really... there seems to be a lot of secrets and confusing things going on, which is great for EE fans but not everyone else, once they've got the 30th over and done with, I want to see things pick up more like pre 2010, I'd like to see things like serial killers, rape storylines, gangster storylines, a couple of stunts, BUT NOT MANY THIS ISNT HOLLYOAKS, lots of violence, bad boys and villains, drug use storylines, really good affair storylines, who's the daddy stuff, a terminal illness storyline and lots of old characters brought back, these type of storylines will be better than what they're doing ATM, as much as I love it ATM, they still have a LONG way to go, they should realise who their better actors are and give them the main storylines! I want kat and alfie, stacey, Sonia, Whitney, the Mitchell's, dot, and many more, to have a big 2015, and I want to see the beales and carters take a long break! Sorry to ramble on, the show is getting a lot better, but I'm very passionate about it and want to see it more gritty again, give hollyoaks a bit of competition, and show corrie and emmerdale that EE is and always will be the best... But I don't want it to become like these shows, they still need to keep it as EastEnders, and make sure it's a show about characters and family, who suffer dark storylines! Anyone have any ideas for the show next year/after they turn 30 years old?

So I couldn't possibly know what state the show will be in(basically an excuse for my un-imaginative mind)!! Many thanks. lovinglife |

I agree in some aspects of your posts, however, I couldn't agree less when you said the BiB. You say gangster storylines, rapists, a few stunts wouldn't be. Hollyoaks. Maybe not quite, but for me, it wouldn't be EastEnders. I agree with DTC, when he says the emotional side of soaps is the best. However, one or two relatively low-key stunts here and there would be for great viewing. As for 'Who's The Daddy' type storylines, well, they're great, but you can't have too many. And none would beat 'Who's The Father Of Michelle's baby, of course. Also,,a terminal illness would be nice, but, no disrespect, I would like it to be something other than cancer. Although it. causes great awareness, and soaps often do it justice, IMO we have had some incredible portrayals of cancer as of late, Lindsey Coulson, Verity Rushworth, although I think Julie Hesmondalgh(?!)'s portrayal was very overrated.

She was over rated because it was coronation street... I think the whole ED storyline is the type of thing EE could do with!:P
Maybe, but, I'm not too sure. |

So in order to be "better" the show needs more sensationalism, stunts, rapes and serial killers?
I don't think I could disagree more. |

Well dtc vision of the show isn't brining in the British public, infact the viewing fugues are even lower than Loraine Newman... It's been good ATM but they need a big autumn!:P

EE figures didn't drop overnight, so they won't increase overnight either. If stunts, rapes and serial killers guaranteed viewers then Hollyoaks would be the top rated show on television. They have already planned a big autumn as that's when the most viewers are in, unlike during summer. |

True, I'm glad they're planning a big autumn, you're wrong a out the figures though, they were higher this time last year... However I think the World Cup etc have affected all soaps massively!
