Well on the article I put on here originally it did actually say that some text voting can take place during the show. I can't help thinking though that this will advantage whoever sings first. The person who sings third may really lose out.

Compared with the cast of the Eastender's the country's biggest soap turning up to support Kim., the audience coming straight from eastenders and KIm havingthe main plot line in Eastenders at the moment, Radio 1 isn'trelatively that big an advantage. Edith and Ade both have to win the support base Kim started with. Ade and Kim's real advantage is the kids and his generation vote for Ade fun and if Edith pulls off her song. Kim may be helping because she seems to have debraized her song and neither the older viewers or the texting generation took to debra doing that.

I think the point is that with the early line closure at 7PM, Colin's campaign this afternoon will alert more of Edith's supporters than Ade or Kim's, who may have been expecting to vote after the performances.

Of course EE have supported Kim; Dawn French and Harry Enfield are both popular and have done the same for Ade. BBC3 has essentially been the Colin Murray/Edith show.

None of that invalidates my point about the effect of Colin's advocacy.

I agree that Kim has an "unfair" advantage too, and I mentioned in one thread or another that people might therefore feel better with an Ade win.

At this point, if Kim wins it's a bit of an anticlimax, because it was predictable; and if Edith wins it will be controversial because of the switch to txt voting and because Radio 1 is doing so much to get people to vote for Edith.

I'm not saying an Edith win would be undeserved, but I'd expect a lot of bitter fighting and spin about whether she won only because of the voting change or whether Kim never would have been there if not for Eastenders and so tediously on.

I still want Kim to win, because she's the one who's affected me the most and the one I've enjoyed the most, even though I'm anything but a natural Kim fan. (I can't stand Eastenders; I think soap actors are treated as much bigger stars and talents than they should be; and for the most part the sorts of music she's chosen would't be in my "play" list.)

Remember the show wouldn't even be on if it wasn't for comic relief!
The idea is they want people phoning up and pledging cash not donating 15p on phone calls and then thinking well Im not going to pledge as I have done my bit for comic relief by voting, say, ten times.
BTW if the final is anything like the last comic relief one, dont expect too much- it's nothing like a normal series final.

I think it'll either be a comedian or someone from the pop business who regularly supports Comic Relief.

Of course it's the money raised for comic relief that matters, not who wins. However, it was frustrating to have voted every night then suddenly find on the last night that I wouldn't be able to vote. And even the text vote on the night was over before the last contestant had even finished singing. It just seemed such a dismal end to a great series. And comic relief will have lost money from those unable to vote (I did give money seperately, but would have done this anyway)

Not to mention Edith's first song being completely inaudible, but that's another story.
