Has anyone else tried this? I think it's really good. Tastes a bit different to regular Coke, but is basically half the calories. It contains a blend of sugar and stevia. I despise Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Diet Pepsi or Pepsi Max etc due to the use of aspartame, this is a naturally sweetened drink that tastes good and is better for you. A first class diet Coke, I rate it a 9/10.

What's wrong with aspartame? Are you allergic?

I know what you're getting at. It's quite clear by Coca-Cola's attempts to create a more natural Diet Coke that there is a market for people wanting natural based drink products, that have less calories. I avoid artificial cack. 1) I can't stand the taste 2) I don't like the thought of it 3) it isn't good for you (even if it isn't necessarily that bad in small quantities) 4) It also makes me more bloated than other real versions 5) as I say, I avoid artificial sweeteners etc.

Yes, nothing per se wrong with aspartame at all. I understand not liking the taste though.

It's not really though is it. Not anywhere near as bad as artificial crap. I try not to have too much refined sugar, but I know what I would rather eat.

Do you know how it is made? Do you know what damage it could possibly cause?

I think I'd rather just have a Diet Coke for 0 calories, than just half of the calories of the full fat version, I don't understand why you'd just want inbetween.

Because diet coke tastes like the devils peepee and regular coke has too many calories.

It tastes funny / bitter. Not to everyone, but to me and to many others. I think there is some genetic variant in our DNA which determines this.

ive seen this, and would be willing to try it, if I could get a bottle smaller than 1.75 liter and multi pack cans.

Be careful with it though, Stevia "is" a natural product, it's also a massive allergen for some. Have a google, the symptoms come on very slowly, I ended up thinking I had IBS. It wasn't it was Stevia I used in my porridge as I was trying to be healthy!.

Intrigued! I've said for years they should have a lower sugar version instead of just no sugar ones. I hate the aftertaste of most artificial sweeteners. Does this have that characteristic aftertaste?

It would be very interesting to see if the people who claim to hate the after taste of artificial sweeteners could tell the difference in a blind tasting – especially in the chemical cocktail that is Coca Cola.

I could. I got pimms made with diet lemonade once and could taste the 'characteristic taste' of artificial sweetners.
Maybe it is one of those things like people who think cucumber has a really strong taste, that some people are just more sensitive to artificial sweetners

I hate the taste of artificial sweetners now - I find it very overpowering and unpleasant. But back in the days when I drank a lot of Diet Coke, I thought it tasted perfectly fine. I got used to it, I guess. I only drink soft drinks very occasionally now, so I just go with the full sugar versions.

I'd actually be surprised if anybody couldn't tell the difference! Regardless of which you prefer, there is a pronounced difference in taste between diet and full-sugar drinks.

Stevia often contains other ingredients

Glycerine: This is often found in liquid stevia extracts.

Natural flavors: a.k.a “this could be anything.”

Xylitol: Truvia is a popular sweetener made with stevia and xylitol. Although proponents bestow the title “natural” to this sweetener, I’ve never eaten Truvia because I’m not a fan of this uber-processed ingredient.

Stevia is “sweet” on the palate, so the body assumes it is receiving sugar and primes itself to do so. Glucose is cleared from the bloodstream and blood sugars drop, but no real sugar/glucose is provided to the body to compensate. When this happens, adrenaline and cortisol surge to mobilize sugar from other sources (liver and muscle glycogen, or protein, or body tissue) to bring blood glucose back up.

Aspartame is terrible Stevia is less terrible. Just don't drink coke in all of its forms.

That article tells us precisely ... nothing. 'Science' lite at its worst. Lots of 'might', 'possibly', 'unclear'.
