Of course they COULD write this in a storyline where Deirdre accidentally opens the pressure cooker for Ken's tea.

I'm not sure it's news it has been planned for quite some time. Thats why the corrie tours are for a limited time

Shame - I was there last Sunday, and it was amazing. Seems a pity to just knock it down - would have preferred it to be kept open and bring back the full Granada studio tour experience as it was in the 90's

Shame, not been on the tour, but I went years ago when I went to Granada studios.

I've been on the tour twice (am hoping to pay a third and final visit in the last week of the tour) and it's an utter, utter shame.

The planners should see sense and rebuild the former backlot to full scale; imagine living in one of the houses.

So sad. I had hoped there would be a reprieve. I went on the tour in May and you can just feel the history when you walk down the corridor of dressing rooms where all the pics from years gone by hang on the walls.

Why would there be a reprieve? ITV sold the site ages ago, the fact they managed to get the tours for just a limited time is impressive considering work could have been carried out by the new owners of the land.

Looking at the proposals for the site, it benefits the area over the next ten, twenty years beyond rather than a short term gain by keeping the tours going.

Having been on the tour, they even admit that certain items are there just for the tour and due back to the current site once the tours are over. Once those items go, whats left an empty shell of a fake street which over time will gradually lose the interest of people as the current Street evolves and changes, making the old one look even more dated.

Wasn't this always the plan?
