Reggie surprised me. I started out thinking he was a cocky devil (he was a bit in the first show) and by the end thought he was a sweet,, lovely guy.

Jon also surprised me. I never realised what a gentle sweet soul he was.

Above all Ade surprised me by being a much calmer, gentler person than I was expecting. I know its daft to think people are like their alter egos but nevertheless I expected Ade to be more of an awkward devil. He's another lovely sweet guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. Hope he gets the comedy series he's written off the ground.

All in all its been great to get to know this bunch of celebs. A positive experience from start to finish. I'll certainly be looking out for them in future shows.

I think Reggie has been great. He was a faceless TV presenter for me before FA, but I've been surprised by how charming, funny and entertaining he is.

I reckon this will do wonders for his career. I for one would like to see him on programmes other than TOTP now.

I'd say Edith, Kim and maybe Debra surprised me the most

I couldn't have expressed it any better than you have, agree in all departments. I was sure I was going to hate Reggie, not really any pre-conceived ideas about Ade as I didn't watch the Young Ones but knew who he was.

It's been a great experience. Hope we get another chance at this, even if it's just celeb ones.

Suprised by:

Jon: He really got the bug for singing, his improvement was so rapid that if he had stayed he could have come close to challenging the girls vocally. Loved his "Music to Watch Girls By" and "Electric Avenue" on BBC3

Edith: For DJ read frustrated failed pop star. So don't expect too much in the singing department. So it's a real surprise that she sings well. I was also surprised that I find her likeable.

Kim and Debra: Their parts on TV have been right hard-nosed bitches, and though that is no indication of their real characters, it's nice to see how vulnerable Kim is and how girlish and impish Debra could be at times.

Nick: For someone who is a fair musician, I find it hard to believe his singing technique is so bad. Shame, if he could train and control that gravelly voice he'd be really good.

Chris: Similar to Nick, except he hasn't got a gravelly voice. After his brilliant performance on the first night, I was surprised his others were so poor.

Didn't surprise me:

Ade: Knew he was funny (though a bit overboard for me at times). Knew he could sing punk.

Jenny and Al: Didn't find them funny before, either.

Not seen before:

Reggie: I'm not really interested in chart music. I prefer singing to talking I'm just an old git, really.

Dawn: Never watched Monarch of the Glen. Will I in future? Possibly not, otherwise Mrs AgingRocker will suss out that it's not Edith I fancied most! Phwoooaaaarrrr!!

Gina: She reminds me of a few people I know who are just as funny and struggle through in crap jobs like mine.

Konnie: What is the point of her? More ornament than use, I'd say.

I have to agree with you on all points & would add that I never expected to fancy Nick but he's SO sexy!

Jon: I tuned in too late to get a proper feel of how good he was, impressed me on BBC3 shows. Electric Avenue was class!

Edith: Impressed the most just by the fact that I didn't expect her to be 'good', which equates to her being very good in 'real terms'

Kim: not really surprised as a trained actress I expected her to be okay

Debra: not surprised at all because I think I remember her from talent show she did yonkers ago. Plus she did a BBC1 sketch show a few years back, so I knew she was a good mimic

Nick: to me he was ropey and about what I expected

Chris: never saw him perform

Ade: exactly the comedy performance I expected, knew that he'd turn out to be a nice ground person

Jenny and Al: never saw them perform

Reggie: as a person sweet as sugar and so nice it's unreal, as a singer so bad it made my ears bleed . He's not much different to how he is on Smile

Dawn: had no idea who she was, okayish singer but didn't make much of any impression

Gina: exactly I expected her to be, similar to her stand up stuff/panel show appearances.

Konnie: only brief saw her last appearance (thank god) appears wetter than an ocean of fish

Dawn isn't in Monarch of the Glen now but is in Sea of Souls (about parapsychology). She is a good actress and I liked her singing especially Leave Right Now on the first night.

Dawn is excellent in Sea of Souls. It is actually a really good programme. I have seen her in lots of other things as well. Recognised her instantly when I saw her. I too enjoyed Leave Right Now and Brass in Pocket despite the judges slating it. Didn't know she could sing though as didn't know much about her as a person.

Reggie surprised me as I didn't think after a weeks extensive vocal training anyone could sound that bad

I don't get the way people dislike Konnie. She seemed quirky, but vivacious and fun to me, though a bit shy. (I'm not asking for people to "explain" it by dissing her more.)

Anyway, Edith surprised me, because over the years I've found her competent but not interesting, entertaining, or fun; yet she turned out to be able to sing, to have a real enthusiasm for music, and to have an engaging personality.

And Kim surprised me, because I never expected an Eastenders actress to be so likeable or to be able to bring me to tears with her voice.

The rest were either much as I expected or unknown.

what I meant was I only briefly saw her last singing appearance, even she seemed to acknowledge it wasn't that good (maybe her and Reggie should do a duet )

she's very nice and sweet but I did think she was a bit wet

I don't dislike her, I just happen to agree with Carrie's "Dolly Daydream" description. She's probably very sweet, and "in real life" I'd probably like her. She's also very pretty.

I just don't see anything in her that justifies her being on the TV, that's all.

I liked Connie too. She was quite eccentric I thought and lots of fun and unlike others who couldn't sing either (*looks at Reggie* ), didn't give a toss when the judges told her so, as she knew she couldn't hold a note to save her life.

She's a good presenter for a show like Blue Peter. So that's why she's on TV. Children like her and some became interested in Comic Relief FA because she was there.

Anyway, I enjoyed watching her struggle with the songs - it gave them a kind of energy - and she always picked ones I liked, while Reggie's seemed awfully bland, except when he's Hammer.

I liked her attitude too. Aren't others being praised for not taking it too seriously? She was just approaching the right point from the less serious side. She would have gotten better, and who knows how far she'd have gone. She wasn't given the chance; and I've always liked the students who didn't hit her with "tonight's performance" back then.

I didnt dislike any of them but wanted Dawn, Jon and Ade in the final - sums up how my views never tie in with the general public.

Ade surprised me, because he's actually quite sexy.... not something I'd have ever described him as after seeing The Young Ones and Bottom!

Konnie surprised me, because after her first performance I thought she would be able to sing, and then it all seemed to fall apart a bit, I felt sorry for her.

Ade was good looking when he was young. Not sure why he has given himself such a severe haircut. I know his hair is thin on top but its a bit extreme. All that fuzz on his face doesnt help either - he's too fair for it to work.
