EE: Phil paying Rainie off????
Noush
16-08-2014
I don't understand how or why phil thinks just cos he gave her a large amount of money that she won't come back when it's run out??! I mean that's what she always does when Ian gives her money....I know what he gives her only lasts a couple of days or so and what phil has given is a bit more but all it will do is keep Rainie away for a bit longer than usual....surely it's just a matter of time before she comes back for more money especially when she knows in her sick drugged up head that she's got something on Ian.....
Separately, I am so confused as to why phil is being so nice and helping Ian all of a sudden. These two have always been arch enemies and this is the guy phil had begging on his knees just before Ian going bankrupt with three small kids. Not sure I get this.....sure feel sorry for someone but this is odd....it will be interesting to see where his loyalty and gratitude lies and who Ian chooses when phil and Sharon come to blows......

I don't think he just paid Rainier off. He was addicted himself (albeit for like a weekend a few years ago). I reckon he took Rainie to rehab and paid her off that way.

He hasn't been very successful in paying her off because she's back the week after next !

I think he probably paid for her rehab. Or locked her in the shed to go cold turkey haha!

I reckon they'll bump her off.....hopefully

It'd be interesting if she was the killers next victim, it would give Ann Mitchell a chance to shine, a brief return from Tanya for the funeral. Minus the drugs, I don't see where they can really take Rainie anyway. But, isn't she contracted until next year?

I reckon he left her in the shed to go cold turkey!

Yeah, I think this is more likely.

I don't think he just paid her off - there is more to it that we didn( see. Him booking her into rehab, buying her drugs, overdosing her, beating her up. Who knows, we'll find out in time. This Lucy storyline is full of twists and turns.

As to why phil is being nice to Ian after their long history, I think it is just that. As you get older and you lose people you cling to anyone you really know and Ian is one of the few people Phil has known well for 20+ years. Plus he knows what it is like to lose a child (to prison or their mother taking them away) so has that shared paternal instinct and just human empathy for someone's daughter dying in such a horrible, senseless and unexplained way.

Could be but I find it hard to trust Phil. I don't think he's doing it to impress the Sharon but I wonder if he's doing it for Ben...he knows he's out there, and although he doesn't want to know him right now, he still wants to be able to say that he did all he could for his brother.

If Phil is the hard man that he is supposed to be, he would have left Rainie in no doubt as to what would happen to her if she tried any further attempts at blackmail. My only surprise is that he gave her any money, the threat of violence should have been sufficient to warn her off.

I think I am alone thinking Phil is Lucy's killer.

I think he may know more than he is letting on hence the sudden empathy with Ian..

The Man With Multiple Personality Disorder. The Phil of yesteryear would have succeeded in making Rainie disappear and it wouldnt have involved money changing hands. The Phil of yesteryear would have laughed in Ians face.

I think he's helping her to go clean while also having it away with her at the same time! I fell about laughing bigtime when I saw him scrolling over her name on the phone as he seemed so desperate to get his leg over! Her washing her undies in that public toilet sink so grossed me out though! Who would want her if they saw her doing that?!

I'm so torn now over who to believe is the killer.

I can't help but wonder if Ben is involved and the reason Phil has been made Ian's best buddy is because it would make the fall out all the more dramatic.

So Phil has to have a private talk with Raine, so he takes her to a shed in the Allotments? The Allotments where there is normally at least one elderly-looking extra wandering around in the background? A shed that isn't his but luckily happens to be unlocked and unoccupied?

That shed has got history too. Its where Lucas accidentally killed his ex wife!

Maybe? I have a very low opinion of Phil so agree it is hard to trust him or believe he is just being nice but I can't actually see what he has to gain by supporting Ian so tend to think it is what it seems - just genuine sympathy even if though he doesn't like him and feeling that he has lost his own children though not in the same way f course.

It's IAN'S dirty laundry she should be washing in public not hers......

Phil has seen how much Ian loves his children, Phil was the one who helped to get the boys back. I think he can see Ian is hurting and can sympathise with that as he has pretty much lost his children too, albeit in a totally different way.
