I'm not sure what people have against Craig ... except that he tries to be honest, and doesn't attempt to buy easy popularity by saying the right thing. The guy can't win. The slighted hint of criticism (that is his job!), results in the baying mob (along with the slavering Grunts) shouting him down. It's the worst kind of bullying. David has no natural wit or real humourous warmth. He obviously prepared his "orange man" jibe in advance, and didn't like it when Craig pointed it out.
David is the sinister one. The man is obviously deeply controlling and power-mad. He's like the leader of some kind of weird religious cult ... check out the psycho-babble and motivational nonsense that forms large parts of his "singing" lessons. These deeply caring chats seem to me, like those of Jeremy, to be designed mainly to keep the students under his (and Carrie's) control. Ade said of Jeremy "he's like a tabloid hack trying to get us crying for the cameras" ... David and Carrie, under the cover of "help", "support" and "singing teaching" do much the same thing. Improving the singing has never been the point of FA. Instead these people wind up the contestants, in the interests of TV, until their singing deteorates. Kevin's early morning workout also contributes to this process. If they were really interested in improving their singing, they'd let them get a decent bit of kip.
