I can name a few:

Calvin Harris featuring Ne-Yo - "Let's Go". Kept off by Carly Rae Jepsen - "Call Me Maybe". Really?
The Saturdays - "Missing You". Kept off by Flo Rida featuring David Guetta - "Club Can't Handle Me". Second time The Saturdays were robbed of a number one by Flo Rida.
5 Seconds Of Summer - "Don't Stop". Kept off by Ella Henderson - "Ghost".
Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera - "Moves Like Jagger". Kept off by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris - "We Found Love".
Calvin Harris featuring Kelis - "Bounce". Kept off by Example - "Changed The Way You Kiss Me".
Bruno Mars - "Locked Out Of Heaven". Kept off by One Direction - "Little Things". Really?
Amelia Lily - "You Bring Me Joy". Kept off by The Script featuring will.i.am - "Hall Of Fame".
One Direction - "Story Of My Life". Kept off by Eminem featuring Rihanna - "The Monster". Third time One Direction were robbed of a number one by Rihanna.

There have been quite a few over the years. Some of the CD:UK Saturday Chart #1s that didn't make it.

Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag. Kept off by Atomic Kitten - Whole Again
Craig David & Sting - Rise & Fall. Kept off by Tomcraft - Loneliness

More recently:

Nickelback - Rockstar. Kept off by Duffy - Mercy

David Guetta featuring Sam Martin - "Lovers On The Sun" is #1 on today's Chart Update. Although Taylor Swift - "Shake It Off" reached #1 on UK iTunes today, this means that "Lovers On The Sun" could be another Chart Update #1 which misses the top spot this Sunday.

I remember Mariah Carey - We Belong Together but trying to think of the song that prevented it from staying at number 1.

For that to happen, Taylor is going to need to sell at least 20% more downloads than David Guetta for the rest of the week to officially make #1 on Sunday.

I'm not so convinced that Shake It Off will manage it, but it's got #2 pretty much secured imo.

That was You're Beautiful by James Blunt. Think it was really close one particular week as well.

Also I think Foundations by Kate Nash was a midweek #1 but lost out to Rihanna's Umbrella in its final week at #1. Then it got denied #1 by Timbaland's The Way I Are which was also a close battle for #1 iirc.

Madonna - American Life was also a midweek #1 but lost out to Room 5's Make Luv on the Saturday.

Very unlikely as Taylor isn't that far ahead of Guetta, and Guetta has streaming as an advantage whereas Taylor's song isn't even on Spotify.

Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris - "We Found Love" was released on a Wednesday and managed to deny midweek leaders Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera - "Moves Like Jagger" the top spot

I remember there being a much-hyped chart battle between Kylie and Victoria Beckham's 'Not Such An Innocent Girl', maybe you're thinking of that? Because 'You Rock My World' was released a month earlier.

Duke Dumont - "Won't Look Back" will be announced as number 1 on tomorrow's chart update but the following Sunday, he will be pipped to the post by The Script - "Superheroes"

There's also a chance 'Prayer In C' could clinch a second week; it's very close to The Script on iTunes and far outperforming them on streaming. I imagine it'll be a small winning margin no matter the outcome.

It does make me laugh though that Duke Dumont pushed back his release a week to avoid competition with 'Prayer In C' and essentially secure the number 1, and yet he could end up as low as #3.

Lilly Wood have nabbed the #1 spot on iTunes so this means that they could keep #1 for another week.

Yep, pretty much this. Prayer In C is in a very strong position now to remain #1 on Sunday.

If they do, then they will be knocked off next week by Calvin Harris & John Newman.

I think one of those weeks, Kate missed out on the number one by something ridiculous like 16 copies.

Another possible one. I think Born This Way was a midweek number one at one point, but got overtaken by Adele after her Brits performance. I definitely remember that Adele came from behind, but I can't quite remember if Gaga was originally number one.

Born This Way I recall peaked at number 2.

"Born This Way" peaked at number 3. Adele was somewhere at number 18 on that chart update but rocketed to number 1 the following Sunday, following her BRITs performance. Then again, if "Someone Like You" wasn't performed at the BRITs, "Price Tag" would have made it three weeks at number 1.

The Darkness' Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End) was all set to be Xmas No1 but was pipped by the Michael Andrews version of Mad World. Shame as it is pretty much the last time a big name act went all out for Xmas no1 with a brand new Xmas song.
