What do you think of the quality of 2014 EastEnders? How would you compare it to other years of the show? Which years has it been more superior than, and which years has been more superior than 2014?

A hell of a lot better than 2013

My main issue is how slow Ronnie's story arc, Stacey's story arc and Dot's grandson storylines have been terribly slow to develop. Largely due to the actors being allowed to do other things.

The Carters
Lucy's storyline
One time appearances of past characters
Return of Dean and Sonia
Carol's Cancer

have been fantastic for the show so far

It has been a brilliant year!

I have been watching since 2009 and this year, for me is better than:

2011
2012
2013

But on a par with:

2009
2010

2014 became a good year as soon as the return of Stacey Branning was announced. She hasn't let us down, Lacey Turner has already proved yet again how versatile an actress she is. For those few weeks in February my week was made as soon as Lacey appeared on screen for those 7 seconds of screen time. I was so glad when she came back and confessed to killing Archie Mitchell, mainly because I was definitely going to get banned sooner or later if I continued to support murder. She's come back as a much matured character, kudos to DTC for that.

Who Killed Lucy? has been a fantastic storyline, giving characters such as Billy and Jay a purpose.

Ultimately, 2014 has been great so far and I'm looking forward to seeing what the future brings. Hopefully plenty of Stacey.

Its better than 2010,2011,2012 and 2013 but its not as good as any of the years before that, yet.

Absolutely no where near as good as 2009&2010 quality and storylines are terrible!

A LOT better than 2012&2013 though! The carters need to be calmed down and they need some major storylines

2010 was awful once Santer left. Kirkwood dropped the Lucas storyline and everyone acted like it hadn't happened one episode after he was exposed. Peggy left too suddenly and Kat returned as a nasty better old tart. It was the beginning of the worst period the show has ever had.

But the first few months were superb and the quality was brilliant, also stacey and janine made it very watchable towards the Christmas period... I agree with kat and lucas though, kirkwood was a joke but nowhere near as bad as Loraine newman... Tbf though it still is in that era, dtc isn't working hard at all to try and drag it out of that era, revolving all the stories around teens (Lucy) and the carter dominance isn't working!

2010 was a pretty bad year, thanks to the live episode and then Bryan Kirkwood. The live episode meant that the killer had to disappear for months as no one was supposed to know who it was, therefore Stacey disappeared for ages.

Who Killed Archie? dominated the first two months, and storylines such as Chryed and the Lucas one were put on the backburner. Suddenly, they were pushed to the forefront again.

Don't get me started on Kirkwood's character assasinations and the way he handled Stacey's exit arc. Kirkwood's Stacey regressed about three years, started sleeping with Ryan whilst Bradley was still fresh in the ground and then he had her flee to Mexico. I stood by Stacey because I knew that what we were seeing wasn't the real Stacey, but an imposter. I am of the belief Stacey left in February 2010 and then returned in February 2014. I don't know who Lacey was portraying in the last few months of 2010, but it wasn't Stacey.

Kirkwood was worse than Newman.

Newman did not deliver on storylines but a lot of the problems of her time were inherited from Kirkwood.

It's not the first time Kirkwood has left a show in a huge mess for the deputy to try and clear up. He did the same when he left Hollyoaks first time round and the show was left in the hands of a deputy out of her depth. You'd think someone at Lime would have remembered that when they got him back as an exec.

50/50

It has it's moments and everything is in the right place but something still seems to be missing. The Carter family are fantastic and (Minus Shirley/& Tosh if she counts i like them all) Linda and Mick (Babe and Stan) have the makings of becoming an iconic soap couple.

The likes of Sharon has improved as a character and it's nice to see Phil,Dot,Patrick,Denise,Ian,Cora getting some decent screen time that they deserve.

The whole Cancer plot with Carol was very well done.

However.

The show is too inconsistent which could be down to the Summer
Perhaps the people behind the scenes wanted to save the better stuff for The darker nights.

Storylines popping up and going missing is annoying and we need a massive talking point. Perhaps the up and coming House Fire will do just that.

Agreed.
He let too many iconic characters go to waste. He almost ruined Kat & Alfie too.
Newman's main problem was she wanted Love and Warmth and while we got that we didn't get any thing else until the end of her time when Michael Moon was Murdered.

Totally agree with this. Even the Patrick storyline and fair enough Lucy's murder is on-going until Feb have been slow developing.

No, good at the start but now for me it's been shit. Newmans was rotting ****, and DTCs is just ****.

It's a hell of a lot better then this time last year, tis not perfect by all means, there's still a few things that can be done, like getting rid of Fatboy and Dexter.

It's the year that I stopped being a regular viewer, so I would have to say at the moment it is dull, dull, dull.

EE has definitely improved this year but I want it to be so much grittier and exciting like it used to be

It is picking up, but I am heartily sick and tired of Carters.

DTC definitely needs to prune out the dead wood from that family , and give the ones who remain far less screen time.
