He had his two scene post traumatic stress storyline earlier in the year, and now he's apparently quit to become a plumber. He's done a longer stint than Corrie's Snivelling Sgt. Windass but even so
It's a real shame IMO, having a character serving creates a lot of opportunity for original storylines that can be explored. For instance, there would have been a great opportunity for him to have a relationship with Shabnam, and explore the dynamics between them. How would she feel as a fairly traditional muslim having her boyfriend fighting against other splinter muslim groups. What if she fell in with a radicalised group of friends during her time in Pakistan? Or what if the shoe was on the other foot with Lee falling in with a nasty group of racist soldiers.
I just feel like there was so much more that could be done with a soldier than having him quit and join the long line of Callum, Joey, Tyler, Leon, Anthony and many more being the local 'cheeky chappy' that has the excruciating will they-won't they with Whitney.
Thoughts?
