I'm surprised that her alcoholism has been unrealistically brushed aside these days. I know it hasn't been completely forgotten about but I would've thought at least the murder of her best friend (who was sleeping with Lauren's father) would've tipped her over the edge and back on the alcohol for a little while.

I loved drunk Lauren.

If she does I hope she dies.

If they write her pregnancy into the story-line, it might be difficult

Yes but her best friend (who she's been friends with since the age of 13) has just been murdered and her father has been making the situation even worse. It's odd that she hasn't been remotely tempted just to ease the stress.

She has been tempted though. She drank some vodka when she returned but spat it out, almost had a cocktail at The Albert and was eyeing up the Minute Mart's wine selection after Lucy died.

Not to mention it was Lucy who helped her at the Albert. I imagine she knows exactly what would say now if she's tempted again purely as a result of Lucy's death.

I think a relapse if it happens will be man related.

In reality Lauren should probably relapse, i know the doctors have said if she has one more drop of alcohol she would die but that doesn't always stop people. As someone who is a recovering Alcoholic, i have been told that between 80 to 85% of Alcoholics who stop drinking relapse and are back drinking at the same level or more within a year of originally stopping. Although it is possible that Lauren could be one of the few who stay's on the wagon the odds would suggest she would fail at some point.

Agreed, sadly. Look at how many times Gazza has been told he will die if he doesn't stop. He still relapses every now and then. Same with George Best. Even when he'd had a liver transplant. He swore he wouldn't drink again cos he felt guilty about destroying his own liver and then getting someone else's to start again when there could have been more worthy people who didn't cause the damage themselves. Still he relapsed. That's just two high-profile examples. Sadly, it happens all the time

Sadly that isn't how addiction works.

I think she has done very well to resist. however she needs a reason to leave briefly for maternity and so cue a relapse and rehab.
rather they had her do the lucy reveal then go travelling for 6 months with peter to try and get over it.

obvs the lucy reveal will only work if the timings right.

not sure why they have to have exits for those who want holidays, breaks, maternity. the casts so big u could get away with just mentioning them every now and then.
