Wow. This will concern a minority i'm sure who follow the NZ soap online but after ten years pretty much on Shortland Street - Sarah (played by Amanda Billing) succumbs to a mystery illness in today's double episode after finding the cure - potentially for CEO Rachel McKenna (Angela Bloomfield) and others who had taken a dodgy illegal drug trial by Ava Erickson (Siobhan Marshall).

This side of the pond don't see trailers/haven't seen anywhere Amanda Billing who plays Sarah was leaving - So I think it has been hidden very well. Not one to get shocked over deaths etc in soaps. However this was a rare case.

Nooooo, not Sarah!

I'm watching Ands1977 YouTube pace, so years behind (2010 I think) but shocked to hear that

I'm watching at that pace too, so thanks for ruining it by having the spoiler in the thread title.

I woke up this morning and saw this on the SS FB page and was momentarily upset but it had aired in NZ so I couldn't really moan.

I think this was there big 'winter' episode and it was a really good. SS do big episodes well, some of the day-to-day stuff can drag a bit.

Shame we can't skip TK being miserable in the next episodes, wasn't too long ago he was mourning Roimata even though they weren't together at the time.

Jesus - RTE are four years behind. You expect not to hear anything in four years, or people to shut up shop for four years?

In a world when people look at tv magazines and find out fates of UK soap characters before they air to 'gain viewers' OP has not done a lot wrong here if people who do watch it at pace want to chat about it. I'm sure the OP would of hidden spoilers if everyone was at 'last nights episode' if it was Corrie or something. However you can't expect someone to just jolly along for years without sharing/discussing it.

Seen a few people tweet about it today. So not even looking for it - I spotted it. In four years time i'll have forgotten or not seen the full story ark so means nowt to me.

In Hindsight I probably could of spoilered it - but if it was for sake of 'last night's episode' fine - but kinda in a less harsh away in the post above - It's four years.

Likely hood is you kinda would know before 2018. What I posted in the OP was very brief - the full story ark is fuller in detail/weeks/etc etc.

I also watch Shorty at the NZ-pace and have to say that even I, who tries to keep up with the spoilers the best I can, was completely thrown with Sarah suddenly being killed-off.

I haven't seen yesterday's episode yet, and only know because their Facebook page ruined it for me yesterday morning - I was sat there literally jaw-dropped, and will no doubt bawl my eyes out when I watch the episode later (I'm one of those people who'll cry at anything, and Sarah was my favourite character…)

I will give it to the crew at Shorty though, they do know how to hold onto a secret, when it comes to casting and people leaving the show they very rarely let the cat out of the bag…

Well - I didn't know that! I'm surprised!!!

I think the 'fake' tributes thing has been a bit much for Sarah! However in the grand scheme of things not many SS cast members stick around for more than 3-4 years. TK is now the 3rd longest character on air at the moment - 2006. Vinnie had the massive break. However was first seen in 2003 of course. It's good (which i won't spoil for others) that there has been dribs and drabs of older cast members making brief appearances over the past couple of years...
