Could EastEnders be a bit more old fashioned?

Ok, so not a black and white screen and everyone on the square going to work at the mines but could things be a little more old fashioned?

When I started tuning into EastEnders at the age of 7, in 2007, right up until 2010 they had a lot of scenes where charlie and Patrick were drinking in the vic, pat and peggy would laugh over some drinks, a bit of older music would be playing, and we'd just get nice scenes like that which add realism to the show and improve the quality, I feel like such scenes are missing these days and the cast don't connect, it can be very unrealistic, I feel that after BK and LN damaged the show with the younger cast outburst, dtc isn't doing a lot to improve that, (blades, beales, etc are all examples of this) I know the show has to feel modern, which it can, but could a few more old fashioned things be brought into the show? Such as conversations between two people of a night in the vic being filmed? 80's music in the background, and less of this hipster hype that seems to be taking over Walford?:/ this is just an idea, I definitely think it would improve quality, and add realism to the show, what do others think?

Going back in time isn't realistic. We may have a Slitheen but we don't have a TARDIS.

We've got Fat Blasters and the Mo/Stan/Les/Pam/Cora/Patrick unit, the last thing I want is to see Blades becoming Audrey's Salon.

This is actually how the Slater house fire starts. Alfie comes home from a long day sweeping the chimneys, he's picked up a few potatoes from Farmer Terry to go with their cabbage for tea, proper treat of a meal like. Kat greets him as she always does:

Kat: 'AWWWWWWFIE GET THAT FIRE STOKED ON IN THE PARLOUR I GOTTA COOK THE TWINS AND BATHE THE CABBAGE.'
Alfie: 'Alright darling here we go sweetheart get your apples and pears here treacle my old mans a dustman I'll get the fire stoked on sweetheart gorblimey guvnor'

10 hours later the house is a burning wreck, the entire family has succumbed to cholera and gout.

I think things like this are really powerful though IMO, too much modernisation and hipster style doesn't seem to be improving the quality, and won't want to make older viewers tune in, which is something I think EE should really try and do, as they would soon rocket past corrie and emmerdale... However, they can still keep younger viewers entertained too:P they managed to keep both hooked 2007-2010!

Haha I like it, scenes of linda throwing buckets of the carters shit onto the cobbled streets of Walford would make some great scenes too haha

I highly doubt that a couple of hipster-extras are going to put ANYONE off.

I'm glad the soap has moved on a bit myself unlike Corrie that seems to be stuck in a time warp.

The middle aged characters have had less screen though time lately and we could do with a bit more interaction between them.
