In your opinion. One of my favourite episodes. It, or any other, are worthy of praise from the person praising them, if they like it.

I don't think it's strictly my opinion that feelings toward Blink have cooled. This is more of an observation.

I think people are assuming RoS simply because it's not a serious episode. Tbh though I think it's actually better than some of the serious ones - better structured and more entertaining.

I feel terribly humbled reading this thread. I have to actually watch an episode before I feel able to judge it, or comment on it. I'm afraid I'm simply not clever enough to judge an episode solely on the basis of its title before it's been transmitted. Still, I stopped speculating like that years ago when I heard they were doing a story called Pyramids of Mars and thinking that was going to be crap...

I recall seeing the trailer for Midnight, didn't think much of it, looked a bit cheap and dull. Turned out to be my favourite episode..in the woorrlllllddd.

What an incredibly negative thread.
I genuinely don't understand how anyone can slag off an episode of a TV show that they've not even seen yet, nor do I understand why anyone would actually want to do this.
Sure, once you've watched the episode, if you don't like it there'll be plenty of threads for episode bashing.
But why decide in advance, your opinions based on little more than a title, and a very brief synopsis?
Surely it's better to approach the new series with an open mind.

As I tried to intimate, this thread is meant to be a bit ironic and satirise the phenomenon of group negativity. I don't personally expect to dislike any of the episodes.

You might have intended it to be lighthearted and ironic, but I don't think many of the subsequent posters have understood that!

Well of the 3 i've seen this episode was the best one. Capaldi at times was channelling Malcolm Tucker!

I think you will be pleasantly surprised by it.

Personally I'm not getting the hype of Listen... it seems to be one of those good concepts but with no story to back it up....

Rather pleased I'll be coming to this one fresh, with no preconceptions then. Know nothing about it (so far) at all.

Every episode sounds amazing to be honest, I've changed my mind. Not a single bad apple in the bunch.

It's just a bit of fun trying to predict which ep will be the red headed step child of the season, as there's almost always one. I don't know why you need to get so offended by it.

I'm not the slightest bit offended, as I've not spent loads of time and effort producing a TV programme that ill informed people slag off before they've even seen it.

I am genuinely baffled as I fail to see how insulting a programme that you've not even seen is in any way 'a bit of fun'.

BTW - I have a red headed step child.

How many people are really slagging off something they haven't seen though? It's all very upfront uninformed wild speculation, the whole point is the guessing based on very little! I think you're going out of your way to find "insult" where there is none tbh.

I haven't seen any evidence of this. Blink still seems to be as popular now as it was back then, at least in my experience.
I'd also argue that it is very much worthy of the praise it has received.

I don't see it as insulting the programme. There will without any shadow of a doubt be episodes which a lot of people dislike (or vehemently hate). We're just having fun speculating on what they may be.
My thoughts were that people are more likely to get angry at the episodes which sounded good on paper, but which ended up disappointing.

Very few people are actually passing any judgement now. Most people realise that it's sensible to wait until you've actually seen the episode.

Well it's certainly anecdotal only, I've no hard science to back it up, but in my experience I've seen a lot of "I loved Blink at the time, but watching again it's not THAT great"-esque comments.

Having seen most of the first 3
Spoiler
I really liked them all but I think Deep Breath will be the punchbag. Reasons are Capaldi isnt easy to pin down as what kind of Doctor he will be which is good as it gives time to explore his Doctor over time, but I think people won't like that. and how cold and less human he is {isn't he an alien though}
Plus the change in Clara, I feel like people will call it too sudden or out of character{even those who slam her for lack of character} and her reaction to regeneration people will moan over the fact she has met all the doctors, eventhough she has said her memory is muddled and its never proven or said that she has ever had 1st hand experience of regeneration happening right in front of her. Paternoster Gang will get stick too and it isnt really that dark {yet} people may not like that and the beginning in general regeneration craziness

Into the Dalek will be a puchbag mainly because of people moaning about how Clara doesn't need a boyfriend

Maybe it will be, but I immediately thought of Dinosaurs on a Spaceship. Which apart from David Bradley, was a large load of arse. (For me anyway.)

And deservedly so. I look forward to many happy years punching it.

A incorrect one, if the DWM 50 poll is anything to go by.

For me both Forest and Kill the Moon equally deserve to be scorned.

Another vote for the appalling forest of the night here, though the caretaker equally leaves a bad taste for me also. The only 2 I skipped when watching the dvd's. In fact I consider them both so bad that I even turned off the previous episode as soon as 'next time' came up so I didn't even have to see the trailer for them.
