Loved this. I'm glad its not on a Sunday, cosy dramas can be on other days of the week too!
Liked Ingleby in this role and the animals are fab. Looking forward to seeing how it all pans out.

Why was this not a Sunday night show.... The feel good factor is there. A brilliant programme all round
Did the BBC manage to do it without violence, swearing and nudity?

The two Camels, one industrial sized cup scene was quite graphic.

I personally didn't give a monkeys, I loved it.

It is hansue.... Would seem to be the village where they have filmed most of the exteriors. Don't know where the house is though
The house is in Chester Zoo - Oakfield Manor they use it as a wedding and conference venue now.

Loved the first episode, Chester Zoo is brilliant.

Did they mix with scenes in a derelict house somewhere?

She was in life on mars as Annie Cartwright.

I really like this gentle drama.
I brought the box set 4 years ago and not watched it yet

Really enjoyed that, excellent family drama and I think it compliments its lead in (Bake Off) well.
of course if they had saved it for a month or so then it would have led out of Strictly results on a Sunday perfectly as an alternative to the X Factor.

Really enjoyed last night's show but it's more of an 8pm show rather than post watershed.

I think they are hoping that it might get a bigger audience on a Sunday evening which could ensure success of the programme i.e. a second series.

Loving it so far. The cast, sets, costumes, animals, are all brilliant. The little actress who plays June is adorable.

I love little June she is fantastic. I also like Lee Ingleby, always have liked him as an actor in everything. I know some don't care for him in George Gently but I thought he has always played every role very well. Can't wait for it to be on next week and guess what, I am going to the zoo now!

How about you, you, you!

I loved it too. My favourite scene was when George brought the camel back and he said his wife would kill him! The whole cast is great but agree that the actress who plays June is brilliant. The real life June is about 87 now. I think it's her scrapbook which has been used to base the opening titles on.

Yes, there are some early pictures of June with the animals on the Telegraph site. With one at the end showing her as she looks today.

The real June was on The One Show on Wednesday, really nice old lady. Worth watching on iPlayer.

The older daughter is being played as a stroppy teenager but in a more gentile way as befits a time before teenagers were invented. But yes, the young June is a real talent, the scene early on where she uses just a facial expression to persuade her dad to save the camel was a beaut.
