Right its been a while since I have had a rant and I've been quite enjoying the love in regarding EE that all fans seem to be having. However ENOUGH is ENOUGH!!!!

Dean and Linda, stop it NOW!!!!! You can not let it carry on!!!!!

Its a TERRIBLE storyline, its something id expect from Berkwood to be honest.

You are obliterating Matts reputation as an actor, with the appalling crap that the show is writing for him.

Come on, he's a strong actor utilise his talents, don't use him as a propping tool to give Linda a frigging storyline.

Matt has a reputation as an actor? I always thought his reputation was for looking pretty and being as wooden as Pinocchio.

As long as it's leading somewhere, I'm fine with it.

Mind you, I'm fine with EE in general these days.

I don't dislike the storyline at all but it is meant to be a little creepy.

It gives Kellie Bright some really good material and rather than being wooden, Matt gets to be a moustache twirling villain instead.

I can understand when a character you like is being painted badly that you might not like it but that's part of the course, almost every character has been a baddie once or twice in their soap life.

I loved Matt in Hustle, he flowed so much more naturally playing the character that he did. I can understand why Matt challenged DTC over the Linda storyline, its horrendous.

I think it's been handled well so far, paced right and some excellent acting from Kellie Bright. Matt has been decent as well. It all depends on how far it goes, but at the moment it has the makings of a good storyline. I can see this playing a part into the Shirley/Mick reveal, maybe Dean goes too far leading Mick to attack him and the only way Shirley can stop him is by telling him Dean is his brother.

This is what i think is going to happen too. I think it's intriguing so far and i can only really judge how good it is once i get more of an idea where it's going.

We don't know what he challenged him over.

He has no huge reputation as an actor. If he can't pull this off convincingly it's his own shortcomings as an actor.

I'm quite a fan of Matt, and no he hasn't got a reputation for being a great actor.

I think Matt probably wasn't happy about the blatant sexual harrassment his character is doing

Dean was quite the sleazeball last time so it shouldn't have come as much of a shock to Matt.

He's an awful producer tbf, he will soon be left with no redeeming qualities what so ever! He's getting as bad as BK and LN! He'll be known as the 3rd awful producer if he doesn't buck up his ideas! Santer was so much better and needs to return! There isn't one plot ATM I like!

Linda/dean terrible!
Lauren/Lola/peter/ pathetic!
Patricks stroke hardly been on screen!
Ian/mick/rainie desperate and woeful!
Micks swimming fears dreadful!
Tina and the weed awful!
Abi failing her exams well I'm not even going there...

Just dull storylines everywhere with no potential! Who killed Lucy Beale started out great with so much potential but has been a MASSIVE flop, no one cares anymore! Nothing is happening! It's as dull as anything! The only thing I'm looking forward to is the return of nick cotton! They need to bring so many characters back, and get rid of all this carter shit, that is draining the show! The show ATM is currently dreadful, and I actually think this is the worst summer they've ever had! I've been playing on my phone once again, oh dtc you started out with so much potential, but your summer has been absolutely dreadful, you've sunk EastEnders down to 3rd place again, and EE is no longer the bbc flagship show! If things don't improve for the autumn, the BBC NEED to axe him and get a GOOD producer in, who can get a GOOD team on, with some GOOD writers and write GOOD storylines, and deliver some GOOD stuff! I just hope the nick storyline pays off, and ronnie/jane/staceys permanent return can save the show, as all the good things about EastEnders and it's iconic history have been completely sucked out of it, it pains me to say it but at this rate, we could lose EastEnders in about 5 years time if this abomination continues !:/

Rant over

Good heavens. The overreacrions in this thread are stifling.

The Dean/Linda plot is actually very interesting indeed I think.

I can see this scenario too.
By Matts reaction on that TV interview he clearly didn't know the direction of the storyline in advance. I doubted he knew this would be his storyline when he joined up.
I don't inherently have a problem with Matt playing a baddie-as another poster said every actor will get this kinda role at least once in their career.
I hope it doesn't go too panto further down the line-we've already got John Altman for that!

Again, a massive overreaction.

It's quite obvious Dean being infatuated by Linda is leading to somewhere much more dark. This isn't a love triangle or an affair. It's highlighting how messed up Dean is as a character and acting as a prologue to whatever this is leading to.

As CherryRose, you don't know that this is what Matt challenged DTC over. So that's irrelevant.

Matt can't act, he simply looks daft pursuing Linda, who is also a wooden actress. I think the big problem is that viewers got so fed up with the Branning Square, that now, it's turning into Carter Square, and people aren't investing in them...simply because of the over kill they see ahead. I've stopped watching again, just keeping up with spoilers, and maybe catching bits of an episode occasionally. Recent spoilers give me nothing to look forward to, or get me excited about seeing. It's all the same boring old crap over and over again.

I don't believe in Matt as an actor. Its nothing personal but I find him unbelievable in this new Dean role. He suited he cheeky chappy better even if like Dancing Queen says he was a bit of a sleeaze. The bad boy Dean is just cringe. I don't think Matt has the range. The fact he is good looking means nothing to me. I don't care about appearance I care about a characters depth. The Tanya and Sean thing was done so much better. Mainly because Sean was a proper and real character. Dean is just a cartoon with silly smirking and empty glances into space. That's not acting... I think Matt owes his current career to his Strictly popularity. Nothing else.

People also seem sure this won't end up as a Linda/Dean affair. Well I wouldn't be so sure. I don't think he will rape or force himself on her. I think she will go running to him with open arms. Which is a shame as it means Mick and Linda join the list of no couple can stay faithful group.

I agree with you.

And i just want to add I think Matt can act and I don't think he's wooden. Same for Kellie Bright.

nowt like a bit of amateur dramatics to brighten up the morning.

for those ranting you do know your tv has an off button right?

I'm enjoying all the storylines atm but then I'm not an amateur tv critic who knows more about acting and producing than those in the job do.

As for calling for the producers head what rubbish, he needs time to completely turn it into his vision. storylines are at least 6 months in advance so we are only really 6 months into his storylines. In the grand scheme of things thats not a long time plus they tend not to sack ppl but wait for contracts to end etc. I expect we will see a few leavers in the coming months and the storylines to pick up and head where DTC wants them to.

I like that the lucy storyline is long running and not in our faces the whole time.

Some great points here. DTC has turned the show around, while the part few weeks have seen a lull I do think we are in for an explosive Autumn/winter.
