I did like Edith until she started voting tactically, I don't think there was any conspiracy for her to win (except maybe Richard Parks) but it was unfair.

Anyway, the real winner is the one that raised the most money throughout the series, that without doubt is Kim.

Exactly. What was the point in Kim singing if we couldnt vote for her. And people could vote for Edith whilst Kim was singing whereas people were watching Kim therefore not voting for her. Edith was allowed extra time. Very unfair.

Yes, but only the last 24 hours of voting counted. An announcemnet should have been made at the end of Thursday's Fame Academy detailing the change of voting times. As it stood most people only knew of the change probably during the show, when it was too late. Colin Murray's 4 hour campaign yesterday afternoon gave great advantage to Edith. Do you think most people get up and fire off their votes in the morning - of course they don't; most people vote AFTER the performance.

As do I. The playing field wasn't level anyway, due to a massive Radio One campaign, but that was unavoidable. To change the format of voting and then to make it texting only , without prior notice and in the midst of that campaign, and even having the lines closing as Kim sang, reeks either of dirty deeds or a couldn't care less attitude to the people who had spent over a week getting involved with this and voting each night.

It also will hurt any singing career Kim might have, to be someone who lost to a Radio One DJ, and I'm sure knowing the inbreds who work there, the fact might be mentioned more than once.

I think I'm unlikely to watch this farce again.

If you believe that, then you must believe in fairies! I have never seen such a blatant fix in all my life. Kim was by far the better performer all the way through and especially during the final. Every TV programme I watched yesterday (including the end of Blue Peter) was really pushing Edith and if that isn't favourtism, then I don't know what is. On Friday night, Claudia played clips from Edith and Ade's performance, then said and here is Kim's - and played Edith's again with absolutely NO apology. In fact, Claudia's guests were 90% plugging Edith and that bit with Edith's DJ colleague going in the street to get votes was the final straw. I don't know what the BBC got from plugging Edith so much as it is Eastenders with the falling ratings but I was disgusted. I turned Comic Relief off after the winner was announced and will never watch or support the charity again. It didn't really matter who won as it was all for charity and there was no prize for the winner but I hate to see cheating and in my opinion, this is what it was.

No, I believe that this was meant to be a 'fun' competition for charity, in which people phoned in for their favourite student, the student whom received the most votes being announced the 'winner' (although in reality what did they win? I highly doubt Edith is going to be launching a pop career off the back of this, or benefitting in any way, other than being allowed to read out how much money they raised!).

So if I believe that the person with the most votes won, then yes, I must believe in fairies. Although I actually live in the 'real-world' where I don't feel the need to post venomous messages on an internet message board just because my favourite contestant lost on a tv-show. Well, if you're that shallow a person to deprive people from the poorest countries, living in the most heart-breaking circumstances a few pounds of you money, then good for you. You must feel so proud of yourself.

I never thought anyone could stoop this low just for the sake of a few phone calls. All I can say is that I hope to God you never find yourself suffering as any of the people in the videos are suffering right now.

And I think your comments stoop even lower by suggesting the above. You seem to miss the point of the posts completely. I'm sure we are all delighted that this much money has been raised - to suggest otherwise is unfair and trite.

However, people have a right to complain if they feel that a system has been unfair, at the of what (yes primarily, has been a fundraising event) but also a competition.

Don't mix the two things - of course people are pleased that money was raised and are moved by the images we see. Just don't link this into a separate argument.

Someone has a tantrum because a certain contestant didn't win, so instead of complaining to the Beeb (which yes, you have every right if you feel things were wrong), s/he decides to lash out at the people who this was all done for - who have nothing whatsoever to do with Celeb FA! It's just madness!

So if you think pointing out the injustice of that was stooping even lower, then yes, I'm guilty.

Sorry for thinking of the people who are going to lose out on a few quid because of someone's bitterness.

I have been following this forum with interest since the start of this CR series. I am fortunate to count Edith as a close family friend and have known her for over twenty years (God I'm starting to sound like Richard Parks) and feel I should put the record straight on a few things.

Edith went in to this competition purely on the basis that it would raise a massive amount of money for comic relief and I know for a fact she did not believe she would actually win, I think every participant that took part, from Al Murray to Nick Knowles to Dawn Steele should be congratulated on their efforts as I would say every single one of them were thrust into an environment that was outwith their safety zone and the reason for this is charity.
Of course I admit to an Edith bias throughout the show, but for me personally this is obviously because I know her, as does Colin, and the fact that he put so much into supporting her and encouraging people to vote was because he is her friend and because no matter who you vote for the money was going to .......CHARITY!
Kim did a fantastic job up there as did they all and yes she has a fantastic voice which I enjoyed listening too very much, but for the record, the cast of Eastenders have had opportunities also to get out there and drum up support for Kim, but they chose not to.
There are no losers here folks, there is ultimately only one winner.......COMIC RELIEF!

Edith wore her sneakers with her dress at the end because she did not expect to win, she just wanted to party.

Incedentally folks, Any parky bias toward Edith may be down to the fact that Richard Parks is also like Edith, from Fife.

As well as being a close friend of Edith's, you're obviously a close friend of the Eastender's cast to know this information.

Kim was NEVER in the bottom three and wasn't saved by the judges like Edith was at least TWICE. So why was Edith so favoured. It is extremly unfair. I think what JeanoJ is trying to say is that she wont support any more farces like the show, not the charity itself.
It was ridicolous that you couldnt vote after the peformance. Like How Soon is No said, people dont wake up to vote. They decide to be fair and watch the performance first. They lost a great deal of phone calls and money because they shut the lines so quickly. I didnt get a chance to vote for Kim because I didnt know how the situation worked. Very unfair indeed!

Thats a really unfair thing to say! If you had actually read the other persons post all they were tryin to say was that they didnt think edith deserved to win and the final was ridiculous not comic relief, which is there opinion they didnt say anything about depriving money for comic relief! If anything i think they could have earned even more money for comic relief if they had kept the lines open a little longer thus giving kim fans more of a chanc eto vote! I do agree it is all for charity and im glad they made soo much money but i just feel they could have earned a lot more if they hadnt made such a farce out of the final.

What amazes and staggers me is the amount of mielage some people are getting out of a harmless , money raising event for charity . I've read some pap in my time but the discussions on this board around Fame Academy for Comic Relief blow me away .

in their infinite wisdom the beeb has always streamed media with RM , real media. Though they are slowly conceding to wma format also. Neither do they like people keeping their stuff , so only make it available for streaming , there is only a link to the file which the appropriate media player (real) can decipher.

I don't think they rigged the vote, but I do agree with those who say that the voting for the final was a shambles. No matter who had won, their victory would have felt tainted, and I say that as someone who wanted Edith to win.

As for Kim, she seemed to have her highs and lows just like everyone else. All the contestants seemed to get on pretty well together from what I saw, which makes the ridiculously personalised attacks on any of them so especially absurd.

I was delighted that Edith won, although I was surprised Kim didn't. Technically Kim's voice is far superior to Ediths, but I found her extremely boring to watch, when Kim came on it was usually time to go put a kettle on, go to the loo, look at the computer - her voice is ideal for recording and this is where she will be the one that gains the most from CFA (apart from the charity of course). It is rumoured she has been offered a record deal and as she is leaving EE shortly I would not be at all surprised to see a Kim Medcalf album in the shops. Edith on the other hand has a successful job as a DJ on national radio, she has said she doesn't want to be a singer and was genuinely shocked to have won last night.

For me the result was the correct one and I wouldn't think that any single one of the celebrities who took part in CFA had a problem with who won or what order they were voted out.

I don't know if this is the right thread to make this point (because I don't believe that anyone was robbed), but maybe the fact that Edith got the most votes on the final night might have been something to do with the fact that it was text votes only?

I'm not sure of the demographics regarding people more likely to phone/text, but (for example only!) maybe the age 16-25 radio-one listener types were more likely to vote by text than the age 20-40 EastEnders viewing types?

This is is what is puzzling me as well.

If they had sung at around 7.30pm, and the phone lines had have been opened in a straight 2 hour blitz how much more would have been raised. Why limit the oppotunity for people to vote on the night when more people will be watching then any other.

My opinion on the singing: I thought both songs were strange choices. Edith singing Champagne Supernova was dull, Kim really did stand out although the song was too much of a ballard to get people "into" it.

Ade actually said something about raising £1M in a minute if EVERYONE voted - obviously wishful thinking but highlights the potential missed!
