My suspicion is that because it's in the half 6 slot, people watch it either eating dinner or as a wind-down from work.

Would audiences still watch if it was on at 7.30 or 8?

its meant to be aimed at teenagers so it wouldn't work being on later.

Teens have a bedtime of after 8pm though!

I think a lot of older people (as in thirties) watch it as well, as light entertainment.

lol yea I know that, but there is also better things to watch at 8. Even if it was on at 8 it wouldn't change the show as they still wouldn't be able to show grittier stuff at that time.

6.30 is timed right with finishing work/college.

I don't think it would because it's on five times a week! I know Emmerdale is too but Hollyoaks has a younger audience-when I watched it as a teen it would be home from school, eat tea, watch Hollyoaks then go out. It would at some point have to go up against another soap in the same slot which wouldn't do its ratings any good.

I Think it would survive. I get the feeling a lot of fans would watch it know matter what time it was on.

it works well in the current timeslot cos you get no clashes. dont see the point of putting it up against corrie/eastenders.

I think it would work in a 10pm slot and. be more towards the hollyoaks later ways all the time.

but I'd like to see hollyoaks go back to the uni led way with the turnover of students with a little mix of the families rather than the young people being all different teen ages and not really doing anything in a group or outside the families/existing relationships

It only gets 5% of the audience share in its current slot. Not a chance it would do well in another timeslot.

What amazed m was. Ofcom saying 10% were around 8 years old. Having been in trouble the producers seems have toned everything down so it has lost its edge. I think they should go for the 'Inbetweeners' audience. That has been a phenomenal success. If you put the effort in people will watch if it has the quality.

I think it would be better at 9pm in the way the show is going at the moment.

I think so. Wikipedia has quite a detailed section on its broadcast history.

Personally, I think that Hollyoaks needs the 6.30 slot because it's not up against any other new programming. I don't think Hollyoaks has as loyal a fan base.

I never watch it in its usual slot. I watch it on catch-up or record it to watch after EE or Corrie!

I save Thurs and Fri's episode for Sundays as there's not much to do on that day.
