Coronation Street Know how to do comedy
I love coronation Street and the mean reason is yes it does drama so well but it's always had so much comedy in it and always can pull it off with the old northern charm.
Last nights ep at the start, the sheep looking at Deirdre in the window was so funny But the way the show just has the little one liners and some great people pulling them off. The whole Steve, Lloyd, Andrea and Neil at the bar and then Neil outside and the Lloyd saying there watching a film and that whole scene was so good And Tracy and rob, Tracy just come out with great lines and the face she does with it is so good, and rob go's so well with her. And the way they just have random convos in the show is great and funny, it's can be about anything like what's Ellen's having for Dinner but the way they deliver it is so much better then the rest, scrip writers do a really good job with that Now I know it's not had it's best year but I love it still so much, I like the way after all of there's years it still does it so well, Something Eastenders don't do a lot at all and Emmerdale are alright at it but still coronation street still does it the best. |

I do like some of the comedy as when they do it well they do it very well but most things recently aren't funny just dull occasionally they do a good comedy plot. I think the library plot was supposed to be partly comedy but that was one of the worst pieces of TV I've ever seen. Lloyd and Andrea the next amazing couple are not good together I think they gave even less chemistry then Steve and misshell. Neil is just bizarre and I'm sick of seeing him and Andrea. Sometimes I like Tracy and other times I can't stand her.

I do enjoy Jack P Shepards comedy acting. It seems to come naturally with an air of cockiness that doesn't look forced which I sometimes find with Tracey, Kirk and Beth.

But I don't think SB is the right man for it, yes at Emmerdale he did well but corie is so much bigger I think his like a fish out of Water for sure. |

Must admit, that scene with the sheep indulging a scantily-clad Deirdre in a game of who blinks first really tickled me.
It was so bizarre. I did laugh too when Neil asked Lloyd what film they were watching. I've been hugely disappointed with Neil, mainly because I wanted to see him beat the living daylights out of Lloyd - but somehow, this different approach of his seems to be really hitting the mark. So long as it makes Lloyd's life an utter misery, I'm a forgiving sort. |

CS used to do humour very well but over the last few years it has been abysmal. It went through a stage of forced humour, silly little skits like the Audreh/Gail giving up the drink fiasco. Out of character and out of place.
The sheep scene worked in its simplicity, almost Father Ted like. With any luck we may see a return to form. |

It's the blink-and-you'll-miss-it quips I love. Like last week, some character mentioned a holiday in 'Fingerola'

It was wonderfully bizarre i loved it! the sheep looks to Dreary were so random and fantastic. in fact, the whole holiday situation made me giggle, poor Dreary, Ken is my kind of man, the perfect holiday that was but all she wanted was sun and sea, poor love, lol
There were some great scenes, loved Lloyds scene to with weird Neil. Corrie is my fave soap at the moment, followed by Emmer, which could really do with a little more humour. |

The way they're playing the Neil angle is quite amusing. The shows only saving grace at the moment.

The Deirdre sheep thing was good but only lasted a few secs, while the show gave us that drawn out cringey sequence of kirk and Beth scrabbling around the contents of a public bin to find a ring in a discarded kebab the other night.
unfortunately the Kirk/Beth thing is more typical of current Corrie than the Deirdre thing. |

The 2 episodes last night were written by Simon Crowther and true to form there were some great one-liners, nice reference links and brilliant comedy moments. IMHO he is the very best script writer CS have at the moment.
The banter with Steve and Lloyd was very funny Lloyd to Steve 'could you fix pipes in the Phillipines?' Steve to Lloyd 'don't tell me you're taking advice on major historical events from someone who listens to Planet Rock!' Also liked the film reference when Lloyd likened Neil to Max Cody in Cape Fear. Then there was Deirdre accusing Ken of hesitating when she asked him if he loved her then later on Rob brought that up again saying Tracy was the same as her mother because he hesitated for 3 milliseconds. The whole Ken/Deirdre in the Welsh countryside was comedy gold. While some of the storylines get repetitive and go round in circles it's always good to know that you're going to get the occasional episodes like last night to keep me, at least, amused. |

I think the way that coronation street has been since Blackburn took over, I would not be surprised if the sheep wins both the newcomer of the year award and the best actor award.
