Yes there was a change to the original schedule on TV3 last night - it had originally been Brendan Grace at 8pm and the film Evelyn at 9pm.

So Fair City and Eastenders on Rte One and Brendan Grace on Tv3 beat Emmerdale on Utv.
When was Mission Impossible on Tv3 as I never saw it in any listings. |

Good Spolier move by TV3.... and the Large Mission impossible Audience would have helped Brendan Grace. Evelyn (Like a lot of Irish films) is fairly miserable offering. That's the big problem that all the stations have. Showing Irish films will gain you credit but lowish audiences when they're not very good.

We're finding out now what the actual audience for Corrie and Emmerdale in the Republic is as both soaps are now only available on the one channel.
Only cable viewers lost UTV NI most people in the RoI can still get UTV NI from either Satellite or on Freeview from over the border.. Corrie and Emmerdale are also on ITV2 which is still on UPC cable in RoI. |

I like Evelyn with Pierce Brosman it is one of the better Irish Films. Much better than Round Ireland with a fridge

It will take a while for figures to settle down as happened when the soaps moved from RTE to TV3. You'll get a fairer Idea of what the Soaps actually get in about 4 to 6 weeks when everyone knows were everything is and we're clear of the Christmas Season. However I would say they're very happy with that figure for Emmerdale. Not so much for Pat who peaked at 105,000 viewers. It does appear that UTV Ireland's strength will be it's run of the mill ITV shows.

Though you can see why Emmerdale is hardly a devastating loss for TV3 with it's 223k viewers....a respectable audience but nothing extravagant. It's the loss of Coronation Street with it's 500k + viewers that will hit harder.

Give it a few more weeks when Coronation Street and Emmerdale are in full flow and the numbers could be very good for UTV. |

220k viewers when some wouldn't have known much of the change and might have struggled to locate UTVI down the Sky EPG is very very good.

For sure, though Coronation Street (and Eastenders) will always have a much bigger audience in Ireland than Emmerdale.....they seem far more ingrained in the Irish psyche.
It suffered a lot because it was a Daytime Soap on RTE even when it moved to the evenings on ITV. Coronation Street has been the big Soap in Ireland for Decades. Eastenders really hit the big time when it went to RTE, until then it wasn't doing too well on TV3. |

By that same logic TG4 would be the Main mover there Gaining 69.7% year on year.

Another TV3 Press Release, they're very much on the run at this stage. By the logic of TV3 Taking one day out of context proves that they're doing well...

Having said that, UTVI's claim that they intend to be the second channel in Ireland behind RTE in 12 months' time seems rather optimistic. I can't imagine what programmes in their schedule outside of the two soaps are going to be pulling in hundreds of thousands of viewers.
They've really pushed the boat out the last 24 to 48 hours, but when things get back to somewhat Normal next week the slide should then start. It doesn't matter what I say, nor what any press release TV3 or any of the others put out. At the end of the day Advertisers will have the final call, and they don't pay attention to Press Releases from Broadcasters. They look at the cold hard figures over weeks and months. Days only matter when it comes to Sports and the odd movie, not one that has been rescheduled at a few days notice. |

And RTE Two are in more trouble than even they expect, if they're effectively beaten by Connacht vs Munster.

Actually it's not optimistic at all. I would say they would regard the project as somewhat of a failure if they're not a solid Number 2 by this time Next year. If we assume that their News Show at ten gets 140,000 (which would be conservative SKY NEWS Ireland which was only in 60% of houses was bringing in 135,000 Avg for it's 10.00pm Bulletin in 2006 and had far less resources) Plus At least 2 shows a night Monday to Friday bringing in appox 300,000-400,000 (the soaps) They would almost be there. If any if their other shows do reasonably well they'll be at 9 to 10 percent. TV3 will be lucky to be at 7 or 8 percent without the soaps and they could be as low as 5. You only have to look at the figures for their normal shows.

It's hard to tell. At the moment, UTVI looks no better than a glorified ITV3 or ITV4.....it should be an interesting 12 months anyway.

I'd agree with that but again I think you're going to have to wait a week or two to see what the new station is really like. Schedules appear to have a lot more Drama in them and there are certain Nights that UTV Ireland seems to be a lot better than UTV Ulster. But that would be my opinion and I'm not the viewer that UTV or TV3 are aiming for (expect for News on UTV and Vincent on TV3)
I've a feeling though that viewers will be a bit annoyed at the loss of things like the ITN News and ITV Sport (maybe male viewers in particular?). I imagine those that can only watch UTVI may be irritated too that they were presented with a fait accompli and saw regular ITV schedules deleted from their screens in the blink of an eye......for the first time in many decades, ITV is not available to many Irish viewers. |

Just a few points, If the Lie and Nothing to Declare were getting those figures they'd be all over the top 20 of TV3 shows over the last year, they aren't. TV3 press releases don't count. They show a show several times and then add up the figures. Advertisers aren't that interested in numbers for the same show shown 5 times.
I could reply back to the whole message, but it's all very deja vu really your whole messages about TV3 on here, just as a reader of boards.ie I can tell you have said the same stuff over and over. Good to see though that you've kept up the tradition of accussing anyone who has a good word to say about TV3 must indeed work at the station. |

Nothing To Declare was shown only a few times at the start of January and February on Monday nights and they were indeed in the Top 20. So too was The Lie throughout its 11 episodes.

You haven't actually denied that you work at the station (but seriously, as I said before it was a joke) 2, All media Organizations in Ireland Post on Boards at some level. Some openly, some not so. There are patterns to when pro TV3 people come on Boards and other Social Media. Campaigns have been run by all types of Media people from all areas of the Media. So it's not unusual to be suspicious of Someone who had posted the last time on the 19th of December and then on the Second of January. Next time you see one of my posts you don't have to read it. |
