And RTE Two are in more trouble than even they expect, if they're effectively beaten by Connacht vs Munster.
Rugby is a big deal in Ireland so I'm not surprised to see it doing well. Even if the commentary is in Irish.

I watched Coronation Street on it tonight but it wasn't perfect, a bit jumpy.....the TV3 version was smoother and clearer.

Looking at all the complaints on Facebook/Twitter etc, it seems there's a surprisingly high number of people in Ireland who watched ITV News and Good Morning Britain!

Was good to see the top 10 shows from New Years Day yesterday. I doubt we'll get that every day though. Will be interesting to see how Corrie does on UTV Ireland for yesterday.

I fear for The Algorithm tonight. From the ads it looks like a good set, unknown to what the game is really about, but Sitting On A Fortune didn't do too well on Saturday nights a few months back.

That is a simply dreadful line up from utvI. They are going to add very little to the irish broadcasting landscape.

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I often watch the various ITN news bulletins, which is why I was a bit perplexed when I realised they have been removed for good. I think people are going to be annoyed too when they realise that all of ITV's sports coverage is gone also.

What Itv sport though?
England internationals get miniscule audiences in Ireland. People can still access utvni via Sky, the overspill (a large chunk of the population) or paying a one off payment if they really want to watch it.
There is very little exclusive sports coverage on ITV anyway.

Those figures are atrocious. You'd wonder if this channel can even survive beyond a year or two, not even with the addition of the Irish news bulletins and the like......it resembles a bad version of ITV4 in it's current incarnation.

I wonder what will happen during the Rugby World Cup?

TV3 have the rights. Will they buy ITV's domestic coverage, or will they use their own ground resources to augment world feed?

How will UTV-I cope with the RWC being a significant topic on any ITV content... I bet that there's even a story-line in Corrie?

[quote=chinamug;76269930]. If we assume that their News Show at ten gets 140,000 (which would be conservative SKY NEWS Ireland which was only in 60% of houses was bringing in 135,000 Avg for it's 10.00pm Bulletin in 2006 and had far less resources)

This is not true. sky news ireland launched with 35,000 and quickly dropped down to average 12,000 - 20,000 before being removed from the schedule within the year.
UTVI face an uphill struggle to get viewers into this news slot. I think your 140,000 over the long term will be well off the mark. TV3 used to do a nightly news but couldn't sustain it, due to low viewing figures and it was a decent effort on their part, especially their sport coverage on the news.

But remember UTV Ireland is on 116 on the Sky epg which further up than the other Irish channels. So that will effect ratings

Clearly TV3 will use their own commentators for every single game, and have their own TV panel for all matches. I would imagine though that it will all be coming from their studios in Ballymount.

I didn't realise either their daily schedule was going to be so dreadful. At the moment, they have just Corrie and Emmerdale plus a load of unwatchable dross.

For there coverage to work they need to be live at the stadium for every Ireland game and the semi-finals and final.
