Exactly what I thought- not a sign of the new Broadchurch next week - think I will stick with Utv

They dont have the rights to Broadchurch Tv3 does. If UTV had the rights they would show it

Whatever about this station surviving or the effect it has on TV3, the biggest loser of all of this might end up being UPC. Quite a few Dublin people (and it's mostly Dubliners) are now asking questions about one of their stations being taken away plus lack of Sports on ITV4. Plus there's a rate increase. Meanwhile many are realising that you can get all your favourite stations for Free, which many of their country cousins do.

That's why TV3, TG4 and and now UTV Ireland being only SD on Saorview is such an issue. There are a lot of people outside of Dublin who have FTA Satellite for UK stations and Saorview for the Irish Stations. Loads of Dubs can make the same saving. So for those that use UPC for TV mostly you could save hundreds a year. Plus get back UTV Ulster.

Yes but my point is that being at the venue is not a necessity. Two of Sky Sports biggest live shows prove this.

True, but the UTV Ireland daytime lineup seems to be mainly repeats so far. Jeremy Kyle USA and Loose Women?! Really? Even Ejector Seat is probably a repeat. Not sure about Judge Rinder though. It makes BBC's daytime lineup of antiques and property shows look like highbrow TV in comparison.

Judge Rinder is like a British version of Judge Judy

Most of the programmes at the moment are repeats as UTV are following what ITV are showing but from Monday from 8.30am - 1.30pm, then 3.30-6.30 is all new shows

It'll need time to settle down, but by the 15th January the Daytime line up is basically the same from 8.25am except that UTV Ireland Shows the Chase twice in Daytime and Mr Kyle twice. This is to cover the loss of ITV news programmes and Tipping point which is on TV3.

Nightime is almost the same as well, UK news is replaced by Irish News and the only programme that's different is Bring Back Borstal which doesn't air, they show benidorm instead.

What is surprising here is what did people expect? It's UTV! but I would put back ITV News at 1.30 and 6.30 if I were them.

Plus any shows that aren't on UTV for rights reasons will almost always show up on TV3 (with one or two exceptions)

I would put back ITN News for now if I were them. I am assuming that they will expand their News operation if they're successful.

With regard to UTV Ireland HD being available in the UK on Sky albeit due to a technical glitch, I can tell you that I have tried tuning my neighbours box and can tell you that the channel is not coming through. Now whether this is due to Sky becoming aware of this and adjusting the encryption accordingly or possibly my neighbour not subscribing to Sky Sports or Sky Movies only taking the Family bundle, I don't know. As I have an official Irish viewing card at home which can receive it, then it is hard for me to tell.

I think the HD pack is required to receive it

You are right however the HD pack is inclusive in the Family bundle and not sold separately to new subscribers so whether the lack of Sky Sports and Sky Movies is relevant or not, I can't say.

I know it is (and I watched it last summer) but what I was trying to say is that I don't know whether the episodes UTV Ireland are showing are repeats or new ones. I know there's a new series starting on Monday. My series link for it is probably messed up now

I notice some people have been saying here that "only" UPC customers have been affected by the loss of UTV, but UPC have 400,00 digital TV customers and if we assume an average of say three people per household, that's over one million Irish TV viewers affected by this changeover.

It's a bit irritating too the way that ITV / UTV has been removed from the UPC platform and replaced by this new channel in the blink of an eye and presented as a fait accompli......no UPC customers were consulted about this.

Seriously what is the point in this channel? Was expecting to see the new series of Take Me Out but instead there is an old repeat of some Peter Pan theatre show. UPC aren't offering ITV as well! Not impressed!!

Good grief they were repeating loose women the other day- only seems like Corrie/Emmerdale and the news are the only previously unseen shows- and whatever they have Pat Kenny doing.... what a pointless channel it seems to be

It's actually awful. I don't understand how UPC can just take away programmes that people regularly watch without a notification? They've taken away one of the UK's top two channels with many of Britain's biggest and most watched shows from Ireland for a programme that has repeats for most of the day.
