Funny how things go. UTV Ireland HD available on Sky but not Saorview. RTE One HD available on Saorview but not Sky. Incidentally is UTV Ireland either HD or SD available on Saorsat. Would it not be nice if all Irish channels were equally available across all platforms.

Looks like Irish Champions League rights will be announced over the next day or two .. Unlikely that UTVI bidded but with encryption they could without any rights issues.

8.30 - 9 as Utv NI

Surprised that UTV Ireland are showing the Bette Midler special at 11.30 I would have thought it would have been better airing at 9pm after the soaps

RTÉ have retained FTA Champions League rights on Wen nights and over on an Irish forum it has been suggested that UTVI has placed a bid for Tueday night games.

Odd they didn't announce the rights holders for both nights simultaneously - certainly, it's a contract TV3 can't afford to lose!

This is where the efficiencies and cost savings come in from that programme sharing between UTV NI and UTV Ireland. It'll be interesting to see just how much of the schedule is common between the two stations over the next few months.

Well we dont know what they are airing between 6am-8.30am. But it has been announced that UTV Ireland has the rights to Lorraine, so it could be that there schedules could be the same from 8.30 am - 1.30pm as I think they will show This Morning. Then 2pm- 6pm might be the same too. Apart from when Tipping point is on as I dont think they have the rights

When you do the retune on saorview, do you think utvni will be gone? Utv ireland will certainly want it that way, but will they have any input?

Also with utv ireland simibroadcasting many ITV shows, will irish viewers get to participate in viewer competitions? I know tv3 has had a lot of trouble since the rule changes a few years back. Now X factor voting is only available to irish viewers via tv3's website and nothing available for I'm a celeb.

Aside from emmerdale/corrie there is nothing much that will get many viewers watching utvire. RTÉ and TV3 will dominate daytime. RTÉ may come out the strongest from this addition to the irish tv landscape. All it will do is drive tv3's overall share of the market down. RTÉ have nothing to be concerned about. Interesting to see who gets champions league games on Tuesdays.

UTV Northern Ireland isn't on Saorview. So no, you won't lose it. You'll only lose it on UPC.

That's putting it mildly. 😃

I disagree, UTV Ireland are likely to use the ITV programmes properly, something TV3 didn't seem to be capable of. Daytime I would assume UTV will do as well as TV3 now (which has awful figures for almost all it's Home produced programmes) Obviously RTE 1 will come out on top but I would assume UTV will be in the second position with Daytime shows by the end of 2015.

Nighttime wise we can assume that the likes of C. Street and Emmerdale will hold almost all their viewers from TV3 and you can add on the 50 or 60 thousand that still watch on UTV, so they'll probably have a 15 to 20 percent increase in viewership by the end of 2015 (audience not being divided up between two stations)

This will benefit TV3 as well in certain cases, Downton Abbey could double it's viewership on TV3 next autumn if they are still on air at that stage.

As they plan to take ITV's This Morning, I wonder how sensitive UTVI will be to TM's plugs of ITV shows that happen also to be on TV3?

That's overspill from Freeview and is nothing to do with Saorview. If you were getting UTV NI on Saorview then the whole country would be too.

TV3 secured Champions League rights for Tuesday nights, so any hope of UTV Ireland getting it to fill their Tuesday void has been extinguished.

This is about the only programme I would care to watch on TV3 and I guess will be one of the few pulling in a reasonable amount of viewers next year. BTW the rolling promo on UTV Ireland today is focusing a lot on their news programmes so it will be interesting to see what their news output is like.
