Seems to have been a big shift in recent weeks from someone who seemed to be the best thing since sliced bread initially

One or two members constantly starting threads hardly constitutes a "big shift".

It seems really odd that many people are anti DTC. I think he's doing a decent job so far.

This is DS. They'll always find something to moan about.

That's true. I think he's doing an 'OK' job at present. The summer has been fairly dull tbh.

No, I think it's just a small handful of very loud posters.

He's not perfect but on balance the show is much better than the last 3 years.

Me too. The last week or so a lot of ranty negative posters seem to have come out of the woodwork. Some are like a dog with a bone repeating the same negative stuff over and over.

I'm certainly finding it a less pleasant board to frequent. Then again maybe i don't take soaps as seriously as many posters on here.

This, those who are enjoying DTC's work at present don't feel the need to make new threads in praise of every little thing he does, whereas those who don't like DTC seem to create threads whenever DTC dares breathe too loudly.

Although he has made a few mistakes I still think that most of his ideas are good. I don't think any EP has been perfect but he's better than many.

He was bound to be knocked off his pedestal at some point, especially as he was praised so highly when his work first appeared.

DS loves a good moan.

Give it 3 months & opinion may have shifted again.
Its a weak time of the year at the mo. Wait for Autumn/winter.

People are getting sick and tired of too many Carters, and too many Carter-related storylines.

'Marmite' character Shirley seems to be shoved into every other scene.
The Carters are the new Brannings.

I think dtc is the best producer we've had in ages!

December he put in a lot of change, the carters were fantastic additions! The Christmas period was a real change and for the better! It was brilliant!

January - Johnny's sexuality was handled very nicely, some outstanding performances! Also from Lindsey and Michael in carols storyline which I thought was handled great! Sonia came back, masoods darker side came out, characters were given more to so, and the carters and shirley were great!

February - I enjoyed staceys return, masoods darker side, and other stuff! It was also a brilliant month! The jake and lacey scenes were spot on!

March - ronnie and roxys return was powerful! Janine's exit was great! Stacey handing herself in was gripping, and the nick stuff was interesting!

April - some real shockers like max and lucy, Sonia's gene, the best episodes we've had in years with Lucy's death and the aftermath, and outstanding performances from Laurie, adam, and Diane!

May - another brilliant month! Jakes arrest, Lucy's funeral, mick and shirley reveal (and Linda's great acting in the epsidoe) and David's departure were brilliant!

^during those first 5/6 months, the show had become so much more powerful, and was heading in the right direction, I just think the summer has been woeful, with not many powerful performances, not much gritty drama, too many will episodes, and too many new characters in it constantly, I just really hope the autumn can be a real turn around, and I highly doubt it will be a let down!

It's the summer, soap figures would be low and always have been, why waste great SLs for the summer? Why not hold on to them for winter when figures will be high.

Well I'm far more sick and tired of all the anti-Carter threads than I am of the Carters. The threads take up a bigger percentage of this forum than the Carters do of EE's screentime. I'm just appreciating a bunch of interesting characters, I couldn't care less if they all come from the same family, if it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't even know it was an issue. It was the same with the Brannings, I never cared about their size, they only started annoying me when their storylines stopped being interesting.

Summer is always downtime for EastEnders, Corrie too really, Emmerdale's the only one that actually tries in the Summer, like with Gennie's death last year and Donna's this year.

oh I like a little moan but on balance he's done more good than harm. We knew he was a risk taker so he was going to make a couple of mistakes.

I notced that. My first reaction was 'what a bore' but hopefully he'll play a better character in EE.

Because people do still watch the show, so it's important to come up with good things for the loyal viewers!:P

By that logic something should happen every week.
The loyal viewers are loyal for a reason and will stick around knowing how EE works with winter being a big time

Agreed^ 5 millions an awful figure anyway, I think april/may put the show back on track, the epsidoe after bgt week was a Monday and got 7.4 million, the figures have dropped since then!:P hopefully they'll pick up in the autumn!
