Personally i dont think any character should be introduced just to fill a cultural, racial or genrational quota but im all ears?!
Im a gay man myself by the way, bit i am not defined by my sexuality. I would hate to think i was hired for my job just so soeone could tick the diversity box

Thank you for your post EastBoy, like you I am gay and I completely agree with you about tokenism, I think any character whatever their sexuality is should not be defined by their sexuality but I think it would be nice to see an established older character who has no hangs up about his sexuality in the show- he is gay and that is fine.
I think tokenism is a double edged sword, for example, Donna has brought in but has hardly done anything.

I agree, as a thirtysomething happy attached man who just so happens to have feelings for other men i think it would be refreshing to see a character defined by the love of his family, friends and who he is as a person rather than who he chooses to curl up in bed with at night
