Hello,

My first post here and I'm hoping you chaps can throw some light on an issue I have.

I have a Panasonic DMR-EX95V all-in-one DVD/Video/HDD unit which has worked well for some years now.

Recently, I attempted to turn it on one morning using the remote and the display briefly showed me the following:-

E - T - L

Before then switching off with only the letters

EXT-L

in RED on the display, just above and to the right of where the time shows. I have searched far and wide for an idea of what this error is and how it might be solved.

If anyone here can throw some light on this, I would be really grateful.

Thank you,

Regards,

It's not an error (except maybe on your part ).

Ext L means External link. Which means it's sitting there waiting for a device attached to AV2 SCART to tell it to begin recording. And if you don't have anything on AV2 it will obviously be waiting for a while

You've probably pressed the Ext Link button on the remote by accident. So try pressing it again.

YESSSS!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I have been sweating for weeks on how to solve this! I am so glad I did not go out and spend £400 on a new device, but found my way here!

I just tried your solution and indeed my wife remembers inadvertently pressing "something" but not what it was she pressed! I hit the External Link button again and it now works fine. I just assumed it was an error message as it was in RED.

Sir, if you are ever down this way, drop me a note - I owe you a beer or three!

Many thanks for your kind help,

Regards,

I'm surprised you didn't twig the connection between Ext L in the display and the Ext Link button on the remote.

Oh and I hope the Mrs doesn't read DS. She might withdraw your marital privileges if she sees you blaming her for the problem...

Hello Chris,

I'm surprised you didn't twig the connection between Ext L in the display and the Ext Link button on the remote.
I only use the unit to move saved SKY recordings onto it and then onto DVD-RAM disk for editing to keep for personal use. Occasionally, it gets used for playing DVDs. So I did not really notice the EXT L button. Again, with the message being in RED, I assumed it was a player error message.

Oh and I hope the Mrs doesn't read DS. She might withdraw your marital privileges if she sees you blaming her for the problem...
What are you talking about? I don't have any marital privileges!

Thanks again,

Lee
