Well I am loving and hating ED at the moment.

Laurel - well I've never liked her and didn't think I could like her even less, but... yep, she's always been selfish..but now I just see even more selfishness. The money is for April!!!!

Marlon - Sorry but he is just so unrealistic and twerpish.

Ross - Poor Ross - Love his character, shame Donna had to die, would have loved to see him turn good with her by his side.

Aaron - OMG - please kill him off, cannot bare the over inflated ego, stomps in and acts like he owns the place.

Charity - needs to get her comeuppance.

Debbie - never liked her but her caring for Ross has made me warm to her.

Katie - make her leave - there is no reason other than eye candy for her to still be on the show.

Andy - fix his arm so he can stop moaning.

Ruby - where is she?

Jai - he's so slimey these days - fix it.

Sam - poor fella - involved with that woman - he is gonna be so upset when the truth comes out.

Robbie - starting to like him.

Moira - sorry but she just gets worse.

Chas - still cannot stand her, there isn't much they can do to make her good.

Jimmy - I don't like Jimmy and Nicola together anymore.

Donna - shame she left so soon - wasn't keen on her return but she amazed me, unlike Aaron who just isn't entertaining in the slightest.

Don't think Emmerdale is that bad at the moment... its not as bad as the Blackburn era. However, there is room for improvement don't you think?

I'm glad the older characters are going to be more at the forefront this autumn. Characters like Edna are getting a storyline which paves way for great scenes from Betty, Sandy and Pearl... so i'm pleased Kate Oates is giving the older characters stuff to do. Also Doug is returning which is great.

I don't think it's bad, but some of the characters need a shake up, back seat or departure.
So happy that Doug is returning and the older characters need to shine more before they are unable to anymore.
I think a new EP might be needed to tweak the show a bit more. Blackburn and Bryan Kirkwood are pretty good and grinding shows into the ground.
Oates has had her time to shine and now it's time for someone else to make it a little bit more watchable.
At the moment it's Ross's reaction to Donna's death that's keeping me watching daily.

Yes i do agree that a new producer is needed. Someone who is passionate about Emmerdale like Dominic Treadwell Collins is passionate about EastEnders. We need someone like that. Maybe Bill Lyons? He's my favourite Emmerdale writer. I think he'd be a pretty decent producer.

I am a big Emmerdale fan, but feel they could do with losing half the present cast as they really add nothing too the show anymore, IT IS TIME FOR SOME FRESH FACES!

I feel that way about Eastenders. Havent watched it for months.
There are definitely characters on Emmerdale that could do with a black cab or plane crash or something.

She definitely does, the actress is very good and doesn't get enough chances to shine, instead it's all wasted on characters like Aaron, Katie, Chas etc.

I don't really like DTC's work, but anyone who can breathe some fresh air into the Dales and refresh some of the characters.

I'm liking Aaron's return, but want to see him caught. I mean how long can he stay in the village without being noticed.

And Charity is my favourite character. I like how she manipulates everyone to do what she wants, although the miscarriage/abortion was a step too far. For anyone who doesn't like Charity, it just shows how good an actress Emma Atkins is, or how she is written. Other villains like Ross Barton and Carl King have been popular with viewers, or is that because they are good-looking. When the fire happened at Home Farm, I was hoping she would frame either Sam or Rachel as I can't stand either of them. I am waiting for Sam to leave.

This last week has been brilliant. It has had drama, (with the heist/Donna and Gary's death), emotion (PC Stone telling Bob and Brenda that Donna had died, and then Bob finding out she had cancer), comedy (did anyone see Declan's face last night when Charity told him about Jimmy and Nicola sleeping in their bed?).

As well as Sam, the characters I would like to leave are Sean (I know he is going), Tracy and Laurel.

Not gonna happen any time soon, I'm afraid. Kate was asked about this in her recent DS interview and she skirted round the question with an answer that basically said Victoria will continue to be used as support for other characters (Finn, Val, Eric etc.)

You must have the same likes and dislikes as me. I have started to warm to Robbie especially when he trying to warn Sam what Tracy is really like.
I don't know why Katie is still there and I haven't seen much community pulling together over the death of Donna whereas everyone did when Gennie died.
OK she was a Dingle by birth but isn't Marlon a Dingle. Has any of them called to see how he and little April are coping. Where is Lisa when this is all going on - she looks out for them all.

Aaron used to be my favourite character in this soap especially his storyline with Paddy a few years back but since he came back I don't see anything special about him. Still love Cain and his witty oneliners and not forgetting Finn.

Like to see more of Jai and Rakesh and the reasons why they hate each other so much. At the start my thoughts were their fallout was over an old flame
Use to like Andy too but lately I can't stand him. Adam is just a waste of space.

Bring our Cameron back from the dead. I loved his storylines.
Forgot about Ross starting to warm to him too. His scenes last week were excellent.
Pete has the looks but that is it. I just love Bob too and I felt so sorry for him last week when he discovered Donna had been killed.

Kate Oates is the worst producer ever - even worse than Gavin Blyth whose mission seemed to be to kill it. She's carrying on from where he left off with all her melodramatic crap. That's not what Emmerdale is about.

This is very annoying!! I would understand if the actress wasn't capable - but she most definitely is. You only have to look at polls on this forum about favourite characters and considering she is essentially a minor character she always polls very well. Also holding the Sugden name surely means they should do more with the character?

What is Emmerdale all about?

Aaron is such a twerp - why does he keep threatening to go back to France? We all know he is not going anywhere. The only good thing was he told James Darth Varder Barton a few home truths - I think James has to be the most pointless character ever in Emmerdale.

Watch some pre-Blyth episodes. There's still a lot of them out there.

Just because you don't like everything on a soap, doesn't mean the producer needs changing! Kate Oates has done some cracking work.

*She brought in the Bartons - they don't all work, but Ross is amazing, Finn's search for his Mum looks good (and his friendship with Victoria is great), and I guess at least James has created some drama for Moira and Cain.

*Bringing Donna back with April and putting her with Ross has been inspired - best summer storyline on a soap by a country mile! Hot, nail-biting and heartbreaking, what more could you want? Has also given Bob and Brenda some good stuff (and even, whisper, Marlon).

*Charity/Declan is simmering nicely, and I absolutely love Robbie spying on them for Megan - Robbie is so much more likable now, the sarky little git.

*Bringing up Andy's abusive history was well done, and I like him with Katie

*Vanessa's getting a toy boy.

*Rakesh seems like a decent addition, plus his son is coming soon.

*Kerry's hilarious. I know not everyone thinks so, but I DO.

*Edna's getting her own storyline.

The only mis-step for me is Aaron. Returns are always risky, and now he's hit the screen, he just seems like a boring unlikable little twerp. But you can't have everything, I guess. And that's me done.

She didn't bring in the Bartons, she only added to them. Donna was never a good character, what possessed her to bring her back I have no idea.
All KO has done is re-hash old past storylines which were done far better originally.

True, but the ones she has brought in have been far better than the few already in the show. (plus she's made Moira and Adumb a lot more interesting lately for many people)

she is awesome, she should not be a supporting character, she should be a main character.

The EP does need changing to breathe some freshness into the show. These little bits and bobs you mention could have been done by any EP and they are not enough.

Little bits and bobs? The new Bartons, and the Ross/Donna storyline? The Home Farm fire and Charity/Declan's secrets? Blimey, I don't know what you want from a producer, but I don't think God would be good enough.

I think you expect too little, especially since the show only has few periods of must see the rest simmers... and simmers.
She's not done anything that screams YES other than the Donna/Ross storyline and bringing in the Bartons although Finn bores me.
Her Major missed opportunity is not allowing Victoria more Storylines. As for Vanessa getting a toyboy...well let me think about how they put Bernice and Andy together and then trashed the actually funny but watchable coupling by revisiting Andy and Katie and boy how much more boring and sanctimonious can Katie get? Katie doesn't work for the show anymore, she's the spare part they are desperately trying to fit in somewhere and since there's nothing else left for her they plonked her back with Andy.

I want Bill Lyons to take over as producer and bring back Kathy and bring the rural aspect back and transform the show back to pre 2010. Thats when I enjoyed it most.
