But what about me!! The fall of a once great character

Ie Laurel from Emmerdale. I loved her at the start with her dressing as a Bumble Bee, her wacky dress sense and her puppy dog eyes for Ashley.

She was outstanding in the Cot death story. You felt that if her and Ashley could get through this then nothing could get in their way.

Unfortunately we didnt count on "The Hat" who decided that it was actually Marlon who was Laurel true love (even though there was never a hint in all the years). So to fit this personalities were rewritten and changed and Ashley went from mild mannered vicar to old person hitting lunatic and Laurel when from the most unselfish person to the most selfish person ever. Even getting Ashley from his children.

Last night just showed how unlikable she has become and I am now wishing that it was her that had take a Sky dive off the Car park roof.

My only hope if that if Marlon & Laurel have their wedding, then it will go Dynasty style ie major shoot out and a stray bullet hits laurel - Ah well.

Marlon can mote about again, crying about his only true love, well along with Trica and Donna of course.

I agree with every single word of this post, especially the bit in bold. I haven't watched much this week, the bits I have seen haven't impressed me, especially last night when Laurel was practically screaming at Moron to get the money out of the house, I thought "what a bl**dy shrew you are since The Hat put you with Moron" Once again, nothing whatsoever to do with her. Chas called it right when she remarked that Moron would not involve the police, if Laurel kept out of it.

I (hope and pray) that this could be the beginning of the end for Maurel, I honestly cannot see Laurel taking to April full time especially with her bezzie pals Fat Egg Paddy and nosy Rhona keep putting in their twopennorth. Like their relationship is so wonderful.

I really fear for that little girl April being brought up by a windmilling moron and a bitchy shrew. Poor April, Donna should have stayed away or willed April to Bob and Brenda, at least she would be loved and cared for properly. Donna will be spinning in her grave poor love.

Sorry, anything involving Laurel and the Moron just makes my blood boil!

It's crazy because killing off Donna has been saving grace for Marlon as a character, before this was dying in the waters.

Laurel has had a personality transplant and is far from her quirky self that first arrived in the village, she is so unlikable. She has morphed into the most selfish characters now. The writing of this storyline has been to resurrect Marlon and Laurel as characters, as no one wants little April to be hurt any more.

Laurel is a stuck moo and needs to accept Marlon is a DINGLE, she cant change him or his family roots.

I so agree. Last night was just appalling - her hatred of Ross and wanting to finally see him put away trumps everything else - she is loving that she's got a chance to get him and doesn't care how many other people (including a 5 year old little girl whose just lost her mummy) wil get hurt.

She has completely changed since the love story that is Maurel began (and yes, she never even looked twice at Marlon until 2 years ago despite them both being single at points - she only had eyes for Ashley from the moment se arrived). She was horrible to Ashley, using his 'beating' of Sandy as an excuse to walk away with a clear conscience rather than helping him and Sandy through it as she should have and old Laurel would have. She constantly egged Marlon on over the custody case with Leo. She was a nightmare during the carjacking and now this!

Why is moron so devastated anyway, he is supposed to be in love with Eva Braun, anyone would think he was still married to Donna. Get rid of them ans save April from them, she would be better off with bob.

It is 'trendy' to have messy uncombed hair however, I do agree with you.

It's difficult to believe that after Laurel and Ashley's divorce and the storyline with Sandy and Ashley, Ashley is the person who (I think) everyone loves and Laurel is not giving over that warmth that she once had.

I cannot stand her. Havent liked her for years, but last night was just so tiresome. She finally thought she could get one over on Ross and that is the only reason she wanted the whole thing reported to the police. Not thinking of anyone one else but herself.

There's just not enough chemistry between Laurel & Marlon for me to give a sh*t about them as a couple, I don't root for them in any way. Together, they weaken each other. Apart, they are much better characters. I am one of very few who likes Marlon: the different, over the top, moralistic (at times), funny (at times) Dingle. Laurel works 100% times better with Ashley and fitted the role of vicar's wife to a T. Laurel does in general get on wick however watching her from the past she was much better, softer, warmer and her friendship with Nicola is a highlight. What is it with Nicola's association with character that immediately makes them better, Nicola Wheeler is very underrated.

A very, very, very sexy woman. I loathe the fact that Marlon has his filthy hands all over her.

When she was saying "what am I then?" I was yelling at the screen that she would have been family by now if she hadn't been too selfish to let Donna watch April be a bridesmaid and die knowing she had a mother to take over.

I absolutely hate her character now. She can never be redeemed it's gone too far for that. The way they turned Ashley, the mild mannered vicar into a bully to justify Laurel cheating on him with Marlon was disgusting. Ashley's character was completely decimated to accommodate the 'love story' of two people who'd known each other for 10 years and never shown a flicker of interest in one another. Not only is their relationship an insult to the viewers intelligence but they also have zero chemistry with each other. I used to really like both Marlon and Laurel but ever since they got together I've gone right off them both. Even if they were to split up and go back to being strangers I don't think I could forgive them. The best outcome would be for them both to leave or even better Laurel be killed off.

I think the reason is that the Ashley 'beating' his father never really rang true and seemed like it was used as an excuse to get Maurel together without seeming to be the bad guys - it backfired with many as the audience doesn't like being manipulated and also most feel that Marlon and Laurel just don't 'gel' together. Also, whilst there is never any excuse for hitting somebody, especially a vulnerable, elderly parent, being a carer is an incredibly stressful job (I know, i'm doing it for my mother currently) and sometimes people can snap and Ashley did suffer in his atonement for it whereas Laurel just seemed to be an uncaring, unsupportive beatch who was glad of the excuse to leave him.

Agreed 99%

I have never liked Marlon, hence the 1% deduction.

"we did nothing wrong!" - Laurel on her adultering, lying, cheating, family breakuping and generally hypocrisy.
