Well, it's taken months of filler and build up, but finally, finally, we see some advance on the Charlie Cotton storyline.
So. He really is called Charlie. He really is Nick's son. He's genuinely gotten close to Dot, so much so he steals to buy her earrings. He's actually a caretaker at a care home (Patrick needs one of those, duh duh duhhhhhhh!). And yet, we are far from the full story. After all, he shoved 5k at Bianca's lot a couple of weeks back. You don't steal that much without anyone noticing, regardless of memory loss. And what's with the whole pretending Nick's dead anyway?
And he handled Emma superbly (though, let's face it, that's not very hard). So far, he's stayed ahead of the game, and kept the facade going well. But Max is still onto him. And clearly he and Nick have had a falling out. Color me very, very interested.
It's a good thing the Charlie stuff has gotten good, because the rest of this episode was pants.
What a beautiful summing up of Lauren's character. The minute a "well phit" guy smiles at her, she's all over him like a rash. Christ Almighty, this girl really is the most shallow, unlikable character I've ever seen on a TV show. Fair play to her for knocking Dean back today because of how he was with Lola, but I'm willing to bet my Corsa he'll smile at her either tomorrow or next week and she'll be running back to him.
Speaking of Lola, she's finally had enough of moody Peter. Yes, he lost his sister, but he's treating her abysmally. The only reason he wanted to go for lunch today was to spy on Lauren's date. He doesn't really care about Lola, and is prepared to keep using her as an emotional crutch. Lola should ditch moody Beale. He and Loz are welcome to each other.
And, oh yay, Whitney and Lee have slept together. Give Daran Little credit for this... he almost made me feel pity for Whitney. Not sympathy, pity. Sleeping with a bloke is, it seems, the only way she knows how to keep one. Which is actually very tragic, if a tiny bit repetitive. However, for the first time tonight I was very underwhelmed by Lee.
You see, from the start, the minute they announced a young, soldier Carter son, I instantly dreaded his introduction. I figured he would simply be another Joey/Tyler mindless hunk to sleep with Lucy/Whitney/Lauren. Took em a while, but they didn't disappoint. Marching around, saying softly how much he likes Whitney just made him look like an idiot tbh.
But hey, looks like Ryan might be coming back. Indifferent about that, but he might bring some drama with him.
Shabnam's horrible. But Patrick stuff is good.
Half good, half meh. But hey, Doctor Who is back Saturday
