5 J-B Points for the episode
10/10 Lauren

Such a crappy script for what could have been an excellent episode. Saved only by a couple of standout moments though:

+ Weasel: "What's up love, is it Patrick? Has he relapsed? Has he had another stroke? Is he dead? Coma? Ooh what about a heart attack, love? You stick the kettle on and put your feet up, I'll get the undertaker on the phone. Cremation or burial, love?"

+ Harlot Summerhayes: "You ain't a coppa "
*Charlie does jedi mind trick*
Charlie: "I am a coppa."
Harlot: "You are a coppa."

+ Charlie being a cheap low rent toilet scrubber that drives a 2013 BMW, paid off £5k for banshee, and paid off Les, yet can't afford to stick £500 back into the old geezers pocket. Utterly hilarious. The plot took a total nosedive tonight, totally ludicrous.

- Teen love dramas. If I could find my pins they'd be straight in my eyeballs.

Not quite sure what to make of that... Daran Little needs a long holiday oop North.

Spot on. I really hate these recent plot holes that have appeared. The cast is almost perfect, with good writing it could be the dogs plums again.

It might be good for Corrie but it's not good for EastEnders.
If Daran wants to write trash like that he is working on the wrong soap.

Agreed. The cast could do with a tiny snip but the plot holes and bad writing (Like tonight) are what's stopping EastEnders from being back to it's best.

We'll Charlie is exposed as a thief and a con artist and we are then meant to feel sorry for him? I cannot buy that young, fit Charlie is scared of old, fat, drugged up has been Nick Cotton. It just doesn't ring true.

I agree tbh. Nick of course was a baddie in his younger days but lets face it he is getting on a bit now. The whole Storyline has so many holes that I am confused as to what is supposed to be happening. It's such a shame because this storyline had the makings of being brilliant.

All I could think at the end of today's episode was "SIGH - I REALLY don't wants see Nick Cotton again"

Is there a list of music used in this episode? I have a funny feeling I recognised the song playing in the pub towards the end.

The last song played in the pub was George Ezra - Budapest

AKA the silly, unfathomable lyrics song.

"My ass in Budapest my, my Eden cheasure-test, gold and grampy anno, my booty folk us dee oh you, ooooh, you ooooh, a divvy doo."

So we've waited five months to find out that Charlie is a caretaker? What a stunningly jaw-dropping twist. If this had come about within two episodes of a romantic sitcom then fair enough, but for what is supposed to be a compelling plotline to help a soap become back to it's best? Just won't cut it. Tonight's episode COULD have been saved if we'd actually saw Nick at the end (although I personally am not bothered about seeing him again the shock element would have at least been SOMETHING). It all just seems a bit of a waste of time really.

I thought we were promised that EE wasn't going to slip into 'summer mode' this year? I don't think we've had a really strong week of drama since Sharon's attack in June. Inconsistency is not the key!

As for the Ryan thing - the whole 'popular but not big enough to cause a media frenzy' character being introduced to 'shock the viewers' is to be honest starting to get a bit old in my book. And yep as others have noted, yet another murderer wandering the Square.

I'm a big George Ezra fan, I'm glad I was right.

But yes, you make a valid point. :P

Awesome thread Mr D!
Just realised it's not on BBC3. Why do they do this?

Who saw the care home twist coming? I love that this story is really gaining momentum now, we're constantly peeling away more layers with more and more characters becoming entwined in Charlie's web of lies. I think Nick will return early next month and this story will really take off. A Nick story hasn't engaged me like this since the 80's.

Anyone else know a caretaker that drives a BMW? Me neither. I really think Charlie's doing drugs on the side. He paid off Bianca's debt, drives a flash car, paid for the funeral and paid off Les. He has to be doing something that's bringing in a lot of cash. This is a real slowburner, I think people should give it a chance before writing it off.

I really like Pauline in the role of Yvonne. Could she be Patrick's carer? It'd be a good way of bringing her to the Square.

Backfired nicely on Max. Emma is really heading for a fall. She's inept at her job and having it off with a suspect. I feel sorry for those around Max now as he'll be taking it out on them again. Was he trying it on with Dot? Shirley's free.....

Love Shabnam. I think Rakhee is really good in the role and I'm looking forward to her becoming more prominent. She works well with Diane in the Minute Mart.

Dare I say I didn't mind the Whitney/Lee scenes. I like that she didn't want to rush into it and maybe he's the one for her? And a text from Ryan....hopefully any return is short-term.

Lola/Peter/Lauren/Dean/Linda was quite dull but we all know where it's heading. At least we don't have long to wait for the inevitable split.

Did you watch the same episode as me?

Hmm. I think it being revealed that Nick's in the care home under Charlie and Yvonne's 'care' would've been a better plot reveal than what was presented tonight. :/

A touch of Misery as it were [until he escapes with a vengeance, cue the inevitable 'Hello ma' scene].

So Ryan's been switching personas since he killed Rob. I wonder if he might get a cameo soon...?

Elsewhere, at this rate, Ian will have Patrick in a care home [Yvonne's one...?] by the end of next week.

I really enjoyed that episode - we finally learnt more about Charlie.

I love how Dean may have changed, but he can still insensitive!

I take it we'll definitely be seeing Ryan again then!! I hope DTC uses all that potential that he has. It would be nice to see him and Dean become friends - similar age, both been through a lot.

I do agree JB. I was disappointed with that episode too. I was really intrigued by the Cotton story but it's just gone really flat. I don't know if its the pacing, the writing today, the plot holes or what but that was awful.

I'm waching the episode now, Peter and Dean should NOT be arguing- Dean should be giving Peter a saucy massage down in his salon. DTC you're a terrible gay Executive Producer.
