Mrs Doyle from Father Ted! Can't believe everyone wasn't on here shouting that!
"Go on, go on, go on!!!"

Loved that show, Graham Linehan and Arthur Matthews must have been off their tits when they wrote it.

Great post dullagj2, closest to my take on the episode. I don't get the problem with Charlie being a caretaker, it's not what the storyline has been building to all this time, that will all come out when Nick returns imo, it was just something that fleshes out his character. I really liked it, it shows that him and his mum are just normal people who have got caught up in whatever Nick's up to. It will make it easier for Charlie to settle in the square when it all blows over. As for Charlie's money, it could be drugs, it would tie in with both Nick and Lucy's storylines anyway, and I think Charlie was lying about stealing money from the home so his mother wouldn't worry about Nick still bothering them.

I think many are overreacting to a rather slow period of the year, I'm still enjoying it more than I'm not and it's still a hell of a lot better than it was last year. To be honest I'm baffled by the "warm bath or cold shower" thread as well, if it was this time last year then yes I'd understand it but while EastEnders might not be in "gritty Bafta" mode at the moment it's far from stuck in the "love and warmth" nothing's happening rut it was in last year.

Emma isn't senior enough to go through the police database. As she's hardly at work, what right has she have?
Every officer would have to be on the data base so they could get paid.

Emma is the weakest police officer on this planet.
She hasn't thought it through.

1. The son of Nick Cotton would not be allowed to be a Police Officer.

2. An officer on special ops would not go around Walford telling all and sundry that he was a Police Officer.

Cannot believe Emma shaggerhayes is buying the crap from Charlie, I really want removed from Beale case once her fling is found out.
Good movement on the whole Charlie SL. One thing which is bugging me who is the mastermind behind it?
Whitney Dean, I worry that her romance with Lee is going to end badly
Who would have thought Peter Beale would do a thing like that, shocked
One way to pay for Care D is to sell the B&B like most in that situation

I think it's a shame they've pretty much ruined her character by having her make dumb choices and really be quite incompetent. She was very likeable at first.

I just want her removed from the Beale case once everything is out in the open. I missed the week where she and Max started.
Slight relief for her walking out but sleeping with a suspect in a murder investigation is the issue and is not on

I wonder if they're planning on bringing Emma into the show beyond the Lucy investigation.

So all these dumb things she's doing leads to her getting the sack and eventually sticking around to work in the Minute Mart.

Why's Whitney pretending she doesn't give out to anyone?

I agree wholeheartedly. It's had a few quiet moments over the Summer but all of the big stories are rumbling away in brilliant fashion ready for big climaxes in the coming months. I don't see what the problem is?

I also agree about the Charlie story. I did keep saying he wasn't some big gangster drug dealer who was killing girls. I think so many people having crazy theories like that ruined it for themselves. But the fact he and Yvonne work in a carehome rings true. I also don't believe for one second Charlie is a bad man. I think he has just been caught up in a situation that has gone out of control.

I also think this serves as a lesson to the Lucy story. Her death and her killer will be the most simplest of things. Nothing sensational or far fetched.

I just can't picture Nick and Yvonne together. Hope John Altman doesn't let Pauline McLynn down.

The show is descending back into farce. Utterly abysmal episodes this week so far.

Some of the story lines are really starting to drag on and on. The Ian and Mick nonsense needs concluded. There is no way Mick would protect Ian the way he is doing. Emma is totally incompetent and would not take the word of someone claiming to be a police officer. Viewers need to see some of these storylines concluding rather than being thrown yet another daft twist.

Pauline McGlynn was just terrible in that episode - Mrs Doyle the whole way though. I thought she was better than that.

Charlie being a caretaker is a huge let down. What will Ronnie say when she finds out!!

I really don't want either Nick or Ryan back. Nick the panto villain and Ryan is dull as ditchwater.

Poor episode.

Probably because they did that back when she first appeared 3 months ago.

For me it's not necessarily the fact that he's a caretaker by day, super suave 'cop' by night, it was just the utterly boring way it was conveyed to us.

Thanks for the thread DJ but I need to remind you that I've done three threads. Two were emergency, one official. One emergency was earlier in the year so you might not remembered it.
My pleasure lola. One of the emergency ones wasn't used.

Dear Dullagj2

I am not sure if you were aware of this situation but I feel obligated to bing it to your attention. On Thursday the 21st august it was the turn of Dullagj2 to create the episode thread.

This is an important task because the thread should be a place where the whole community can get together to discuss the episode in a dignified manner, usually with everyone expressing which characters they want to have sexy times with.

Sadly on this date in question the poll was not up to standard. For instance there was not even a poll, something that is expected with every thread. I personally think it's disgusting that there was not naked pictures of Declan Bennett to drool over.

I am unwilling to tolerate the lazy behaviour of Dullagj2 and ask that his names get scrapped from the list of reputable episode thread makers instantly. If you do not comply with our demands Dan2008 is going to streak across the streets of London in protest. If you do not want to see Dans genitalia dangling about then I suggest you get rid of Dullagj2 post haste.

Yours Sincerely

Mr Scrabbler Esq

Thank you for the thread. Great episode glad more Charile information is being revealed. Plus Nick at the end :
Very welcome Ice.

Awesome thread Mr D!
Just realised it's not on BBC3. Why do they do this?
Thanks 0...0. I know it's annoying, is there much point showing it at 1:30 in the morning?

: Did you watch the same episode as me? :
You were on BBC One right?

Thanks guestofseth. Agree I'm still enjoying it and it's building nicely to a big Autumn/Winter/anniversary.

I agree wholeheartedly. It's had a few quiet moments over the Summer but all of the big stories are rumbling away in brilliant fashion ready for big climaxes in the coming months. I don't see what the problem is?
+1

I foresaw a negative reaction coming. Firstly, the way it's been told means viewers want the pay off to be satisfying because it's been running for 5 months and secondly, I'm not sure there were many theories that would have satisfied some fans, people had built it up to be something it wasn't.

Personally I'm enjoying this story and all the twists and turns. I think he could be a drug dealer as he's flashed the cash on more than one occasion. It's always advancing and I'm positive there's more to come from this story, it's certain to run to the anniversary and beyond. It hasn't been paced too badly when you think about it.

March: Charlie arrives/fake funeral
April: Charlie/Ronnie sleep together
May: Dot doubts Charlie's a policeman/Yvonne debut
June: Ronnie pregnant/gives Charlie the brush off
July: Carol discovers Nick's alive/Charlie pays her daughter's debt
August: Max suspects he's bad news, Emma does some digging, Charlie worms his way out and is revealed as a caretaker in a care home, working with his mum. Nick attacks his car.

The mystery wasn't Charlie's job it's what has the fake death of Nick got to do with Charlie, Yvonne and Les.
