What has Whitney been up to?

The whole text thing was ludicrous... If Whitney has this SImon Parker in her phone, has she not realised that it's her brother before now for him to put 'It's me, Ryan'? Does she think she's been chatting to Simon the whole time?

My thoughts exactly.

It's just lazy storytelling to make viewers aware that Ryan is texting under a false name. But then why not display a random number above the text instead of a name? The name indicates Whitney already has the number saved on the phone and therefore is aware that it's Ryan's number. Why else would she save Simon Parker's number on her phone? But if that really is the case, why would Ryan send a text saying "it's me Ryan" if Whitney already knows?

Strange really. But I imagine the production team couldn't be bothered either way. They probably assumed the viewers would just stupidly accept it and not question it. Their main aim was to let the viewers know that Ryan had sent the text, and they accomplished that.

What's more concerning is alfie having whitney and Abi's number! Perhaps the writers can also write a mystery affair storyline for alfie this time around, with the Walford kiddies (it's what they're portrayed as) in the mix!

Phil and Rainie had a thing back in 2010, so not surprising that he has her number.

I wonder if because Ryan is on the run, he doesn't have a phone at all. He might have been communicating with her infrequently through this Simon Parker with Simon letting Whitney know that he is ok. Maybe Whitney texted Simon asking him to tell Ryan that Lily was back and that she'd spent the afternoon with her. Ryan could then have started asking questions but Whitney didn't say much thinking it was Simon, especially if he was asking how Whitney herself was.

This reminds me of Sharon having Marcus on her phone just waiting for Phil to pick up!

Alfie probably had Whitney's number and vice versa as she was engaged to his cousin at one time. I found it strange she wasn't phoning Kat instead though; she and Whitney found an understanding last year and Kat is the one actually related to Lily, and as such, she's one whose care Lily has actually been left in.

Abi is a weird one however.

Can you imagine Phil actually asking these people for their numbers...and them giving it to them?

LOL I can almost... almost buy Phil having Abi's number. Jay is seemingly the 'son he never had', and with him being in a long term relationship with Abi it does nearly seem credible that Phil might have her number. Perhaps he rings her up for a girly chat at weekends.

It should mean that Whitney knows a Simon Parker and that Ryan is using his phone or Ryan is using that text to alert Whitney that he has a new number of which wishes to inform her about at a later date.

It's nice to know that Ryan presumably made a fake facebook profile so he could keep up to date with Whitney (just by being able to look at her profile).

I got the impression it was a Facebook message, and that ryan had sent a message from Simons profile. If Whitney had her profile set to receive messages from anyone this would have been easy to do.
