Yes I noticed that at first they tried to disguise their intentions by claiming that 'other' people in the house are wound up by him.

But of course with these kinds of things it becomes a meme and other housemates start to believe that Gary is doing or saying bad things to other housemates, just because the rumourmill has started.
It's only subtle, but it works. I've seen it work when James relays a story about an encounter he has had with Gary, but twisting the story slightly so that it's in his favour, and the housemate or housemates he's telling the story to just believe him without question.
But when you say that Gary is misunderstood, I've got the feeling that it may be less that he's misunderstood by some of them, and rather that housemates such as Leslie and James know exactly what they're doing. Others will follow suit because it's an easier life for them. Rather Gary get evicted over them I suppose.
It's a bit shit the position he's now been put in, because it's a position which is likely to break anyone's spirit. Which is very unfortunate for viewers who like Gary because many have liked him because he's been funny and upbeat. Make him miserable and it undermines him as an entertaining housemate.
Because for one, he was working really hard to integrate with others. Really hard. But now that is undone because BB have effectively ostracized him further from the main group, while the other housemates who are lording it over Gary and Frenchie are bonding closer together. Which gives Gary less chance of bonding with people when the task is over. He has a mountain to climb. Which I'm not sure he will be able to unfortunately.
I don't think that this is going to end well, because from what I understand this isn't going to be just for a day if other housemates are going to be joining Gary and Frenchie.
In fact when I think about it more it's really bad because it's almost like solitary confinement if all the other housemates are doing their thing in the house most of the time. I'm starting to question really how ethical this actually is to deprive people like this for a sustained period of time. Wouldn't that be potentially psychologically harmful?
I think he's going to walk personally. I think I probably would.
