I'm not sure if it's his job to interrupt or if it is just what he does. I don't know if you've watched Pop Idol where the judges gave their feedback and after they'd finished, Ant & Dec would say something positive. I know it's a different format but I much prefer that.
I have no problem with Patrick giving feedback but I'd prefer it if he gave it once everyone finished - time allowing. There have been many occasions where Craig starts off with the negative but you can tell that he is going to on to say something more positive. Patrick cuts him off immediately before he reaches his crux and asks Carrie and David for their views - it then descends.
I agree that they have a fixed running time but he uses up much of it arguing and going to and fro between the judges and Carrie and David.
Although RP goes on and on, Richard should learn how to move them on. I'd much rather hear what the judges have to say. They are there to give their views be it negative or positive. I imagine that Carrie and David are there to balance it. If Patrick wants to come in, I'd rather it be at the very end. It only takes a few second to say that was excellent but he wastes precious minutes arguing. Craig sometimes doesn't finish off or finishes off lamely. He then moves on to another judge and again it goes to David and Carrie. Sometimes you get feedback from only 2 judges. There have been times that I have been dying to hear what the other judge has to say.
Having said all that, I imagine that the producers want it just the way it is to create interest or hype.
I guess that I'll be in the minority or even alone in this view but, as I said before, it irritates me. Always has done and always will do - that is if there is another series.
