Very late to the game here, but had to comment on this episode. It was fricking terrible.
It's like Lorraine Newman has taken over once again, to give us yet another installment of "A Day in the Very Uninteresting and Shallow Life of Lauren Branning." I knew all it would take was Dean smiling at her and she'd be running straight back to him. The fact is, the guy is running a business. He doesn't feel Lola would be a good fit for his business. Yes, this is harsh. Yes, he was rude as hell with her. But it also says a lot about his character when he'll forget all that just to please his latest squeeze. How predictably boring of him.
It looked for a second there like Peter was going to tell Lauren how he really felt. Presumably, we were supposed to be on the edge of our seat, cursing when he couldn't do it. The only thing I was cursing about was that I could be watching something else right about now. The writers obviously think that we just can't wait to see Lauren shag someone, just like Whitney. So, Ryan saw a picture of Lily and suddenly wants to come back. Not sure what exactly they could do with his character now, but OK. In all honesty, I don't think I could stand poor research into the legal system to get another murderer (and parent of Lily) off.
Urgh, what tripe. What complete tripe. When will they get it into their thick skulls? Watching Lauren Branning's love life is not interesting!
I also thought tonight just how much this Nick thing would have worked a lot better if it wasn't for his 2009 return. A dark name from the past, not seen in years, now terrorizing Charlie and his mother... it would certainly have generated a bit more excitement than a man who blew up the cafe with a chair leg. His return was so bad last time it's seriously overshadowing this rather intriguing storyline. He just wasn't scary. He's certainly not a match for the likes of Phil, or Mick, or even Max. So why the hell Charlie, who has proven himself to be quite the clever manipulator himself, is scared of him is beyond me. Charlie could, to put it blunt, probably wipe the floor with Nick! He's a lot younger, a lot fitter and can probably handle himself.
But, I will give them the benefit of the doubt here. After all, we don't know the full story. Nick may have something on him. Tbh, I'm shocked he's actually his son, so I'm not sure what else to expect from this now. Still, it's the only thing that kept me watching this week. Take away the Charlie stuff and this was, by far, the worst week since DTC took control. And why was this? Once again, down to Lauren Branning.
Boo.
