Did they kill the wrong Beale twin off?
Hetti's Lucy was a different character. She bore no resemblance to Melissa's Lucy. Neither actress was all that great if we're being brutally honest but Melissa got in there before Hetti and put her stamp on the character of Lucy. Perhaps unfairly, Hetti was crticised for not providing any continuity between the 2 versions. If she'd joined as Ian's long lost secret daughter and not as Lucy perhaps things would have been different but I still think she'd have ended up axed eventually. She just didn't gel with anyone in the cast and the character was a drip. Lucy died back in 2010 when Melissa was axed. This character everyone is mourning for was not Lucy.

I agree with this. Ironically no one is mourning Lucy apart from 3 characters really.

Thinking about it if Melissa's Lucy had been killed off it would have made a much bigger splash. Love her or hate her she was presence in the show. Hetti's Lucy felt like a spare part and never truly settled into the show which is obviously why she was axed. Though I agree that had Melissa behaved then she'd have been kept on as Lucy and never killed off. It doesn't feel like the "loss" of a character we've spent 20 years watching grow up (primarily with Melissa in the role). It feels like the long drawn out death of a failed character we never knew or cared about (DISCLAIMER : Some people cared about Hetti's Lucy

).
I don't understand the bad feeling toward him
