She was good, but she didn't really tackle anything too difficult. She was certainly the best of the young actors in those early years.

No need to attack Filiman. I don't think he mentioned Sharon, Shirley and Kat. Kat is more iconic than Stacey and Shirley is on her way to become iconic and Linda Henry is a good actress. As for Sharon, she's getting much better now and is being used more. I like Stacey but I don't think she is "Queen". The only "queen" of eastenders is Pat Butcher but sadly she is dead..

How did I attack Filliman? If anything I was attacked when he practically said I was about 9 just because I like Stacey.

Stacey is one of the best female characters the show has ever had and I can't think of anyone else who deserves a title of queen more.

Her acting has always been flawless. I can't think of any other soap actress who could pull off some of the things Lacey has delivered apart from maybe Lindsey Coulson and Alison King. Lacey's 30 plus awards says it all.

My favourite ever scene of Stacey's is this one.

No words. Some of the shows strongest material has come from not just Stacey but Jean too.

Agree about Susan. The shows first year owes more to her than Den or Angie.

She pleaded guilty...so there was no trial

I'm sorry but I've got to disagree with you 100% there at the time when it was revealed that she was pregnant that was fantastic and in those times it was really frowned at. Her baby's father was Dirty Den - the biggest villain on the box at the time. Susan's raw performances hit home to many teens at that time including myself. Just as I'm sure Lacey's portrayal of Stacey does with this generation.

Well said - 100& agree . She is definitely one of the show's best females ever so I have my fingers crossed that TPTB won't ruin Stacey like they did in late 2010. I like to see her win more awards again.

Stacey is a bit hit and miss for me but she's easily one of the best female characters of the last decade. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to place her above Sharon, Pat, Pauline, Michelle and all the other legends but she's a better character than that runt Shirley that's for sure. Personality Swap AKA Kat has had her reputation ruined good and proper since she slithered back to the square 4 years ago so I think I would place Stacey above her for me personally but probably not in the minds of the public.

She was very good and she was certainly one of my top characters at that time. I suppose I was thinking more of Stacey's bi-polar...that must have been incredibly difficult to portray. But I'm quite happy to put them both on equal footing.

At the end of the day it boils down to the most popular and high profile characters of each decade.

(1) 1985-89: Den, Angie, Michelle, Pat and Frank.
(2) 1990-99: Sharon, Phil, Grant, Peggy, Bianca, Ricky, Ian, Cindy, and Tiffany.
(3) 2000-09: Janine, Kat, Little Mo, Dennis, Phil (again), Sharon (again), Chrissie, Stacey and Ronnie.
(4) 2010-present: Too early to confirm.

So I think it is fair to place Stacey in the long list of EE's greatest females.

I'd agree with that but I would put Janine & Peggy (again) into the 2000 - 09 era as well. A lot of Janine's best material came in the early 00s. I just adore this scene she had with Peggy.

Oh Filiman - I agree and disagree with this.

I'm definitely not 9 - (unless I joined the forum when I was 2!) - but Stacey is one of the better female characters the show has ever seen.

She is in a trio of characters that I can't tear apart - Pat, Janine and Stacey are my three favourite characters in the show's history, and I couldn't rank them - HOWEVER, what I do agree with you on is that she is not Queen Stacey.

As much as I like Stacey - Angie, Kathy, Pauline and Pat all have more claim to that title. Maybe in 10 years time we can re-assess, but I honestly don't think anyone will dethrone Angie.

I can't believe I forgot about her.

I sometimes refer to her as "Queen Janine" so I'd agree with that. She's the Queen of Evil

Queen Janine
Queen Sharon
Queen Stacey in a few years

You can have more than one queen

Looks like Stacey's not the only one with a habit of pushing poor Vicky from that bar.

Tbh I couldn't care less if it did become the stacey show... Stacey, ronnie and
Roxy need to be used a lot next year, would rather see them than the carters, that family started out so great, but have become an absolute joke now... Carnivals, spice girls, swimming lessons, get out of it!

I'd say for this decade, max and tanya, kat and alfie, and ronnie and phil and ian have been the stars so far, shirley will be massive by the end of the decade if she's still around...

I wouldn't agree with any of those....Janine, Pat, Michael and Lola get my vote although I imagine a lot of the youngsters would say Lauren.

Ultimately we all have our favorite 'queens' in EE and its testament to the show that there have been so many of them. I define the queens as the focal point of the show, with the biggest high octane
stories, usually, but not always glamorous.

I would say
85: Michelle - she was the biggest young female star as she had been very popular in Grange Hill and carried the first big story.

86:88 Angie,
89:91 ???
92:95 Sharon
95:98 Tiffany
99:01 Mel
01:05 Kat/Mel/Sharon/Chrissie
06: Dawn?
07:10 Stacey/Ronnie
10:11 Kat/Ronnie
11:13 ?? Lauren/Janine?
14: Shirley?

Kings are much easier. Basically who was top dog.

85:89 Den of course
90:99 Grant
99:01 Steve/Dan
01:03 Phil
03:05 Den
06: Eternity Phil

This isn't to deny the importance of characters like Pauline and Pat etc
Feel free to rip me to shreds!

Pat and Frank were huge so I'd place Pat as the queen somewhere in the late 80's/early 90's. Interestingly, Pauline was definitely the backbone of EastEnders and I'd arguably call her the true Queen of EastEnders but I don't think she ever truly dominated the show. She was just a reliable presence always there to steady the ship (until she lost her mind and crashed the ship into an iceberg towards the end).

Phil needs to be taken down. It's a joke now.

Actually fair point, there was the big wedding with Frank and the stewardship of the Vic so Pat probably slotted in in that period. I always saw Pauline as the Queen Mum type!

How can you hate Tommy, Bert and Ernie? . Tommy is so cute and hate is a strong word and I don't get how you can hate the babies yet as well. If you hate Kate, Alfie and Jean that is fine but leave the kids out of it because its wrong to hate a child who is 3 and two little babies
