EastEnders was at it's best during the 1998-2002 era under John Yorke in my opinion, back then it was much more gritter and violence played a major part in that, i'm not saying violence is the only way to make EastEnders more gritter but it would be start. Nowadays EastEnders fights usually consists of one punch before it is broken up, i can't remember the last time there was a proper fight on EastEnders.

I agree totally with this. 1998 - 2002/2003 was my favourite era.
The violence, which I normally abhor, needs to be centred around The Weasel and it needs to be barbaric, bloody and brutal. Seeing The Weasel getting a proper stomping would bring the viewers flooding back. It would be edge of the seat stuff.

It was bad back then the start of who was Kat having an affair with? that probably was the last proper fight in EastEnders, and that was 2 years ago and even that was more a slapstick Comedy fight what with Syed pouring the Ice down Derek's back(Loved his face though) and Michael twisting Fatboy's Nipples. Bring back proper EastEnders Violence and fights.

Quite though I think Lauren loves Peter and Lola loves Jay even though they are with other people.
To the main point, yes, of course EastEnders needs it's violence and grittiness back. I think DTC will deliver though.
