I personally loved EastEnders gangster period although a lot didn't, we had some great characters at that time including Dennis Rickman, the return of Den Watts, Jack Dalton, Steve Owen, Dan Sullivan, Johnny Allen, Andy Hunter and Phil Mitchell was in his prime. I watched EastEnders the Gangster Movies Part One to twenty six from 2003 last week on Youtube and EastEnders was on fire back then it was brilliant.
