It's the same garden from 'The Girl Who Waited'.
Those were mile high hedges and CGI backdrops. This was quite small in comparison. |

She's not River and more to the point, I think her inclusion in the series (whether she's friend or foe) is a way of telling us that River is done with for now.

Did I hear her right saying about the Doctors accent 'I think I'll keep it'?

The boyfriend line would imply, Clara, River (although technically Husband), The Tardis, or the Rani.
Of course it could be a brand new character. |

I love River Song, but only with Alex Kingston's face. Does that make me a bad person?

If it is heaven, then it could be anyone. Maybe Peri in a different guise? Or maybe Adric, who has taken on a slightly more feminine form.
It should also not be ruled out that this is the final incarnation of the Doctor. There is also the possibility that it was not the Clockwork Man who feel from the sky, but the Doctor (as we never saw the fall itself) and the man Clara is travelling with is actually the Clockwork Man. |

Perhaps its a female time lady (Rani or a new character) who escaped the Time War/ Gallifrey and went a bit mental(like Caan) and has fallen in love with the Doctor.
The garden would look similar to River's garden, because she feels she's competing with his wife

I`m thinking its not River Song because that would be too obvious especially after calling him "boyfriend" naturally that would lead people to assume she was River.
I`ll go with the Rani, the Tardis or a new character. |

I'm thinking she is an older version of Clara - by heck there are so many versions of her there must be some that have aged and all the boyfriend references and then she comes out with that boyfriend line. It's too convenient to not be a coincidence. Unless of course its one of Moffat's famous red herrings.

Why say 'I'll keep it'? Maybe it's the Valeyard!

There's part of me that would love it to be Clara, like if maybe the doctor saved the wrong Clara from his timeline and the original one has now grown old and finally managed to escape....we haven't had a companion go rogue, would be a good story!
More I think about it though, 'Master' is the title given to a young man, 'Miss' is the title given to a young woman, or being playful 'Missy'... I'll hold my hands up and say I never made the link in names between Mels to Melody Pond, or Melody Pond to River Song, or even Melody Malone to River Song....Moffat likes a play on names/titles! Watch this space! |

I haven't read the rest of the thread, but I agree with anyone who thinks Missy is the Valeyard. I've broken down the reasoning behind my inevitably completely wrong theory below:-
1. She said she'd keep the Scottish accent, because she's expecting to become the (next) Doctor herself. 2. This is the producers sneaky way of seeing how people would react to a female Doctor. Clara's long winded angst/Matt's cameo gave the impression that they were nervous just about an older Doctor. This way the (sort of) Doctor is female, but if viewer reaction is negative, then she doesn't really count. 3. Some viewers seemed to think that her garden layout resembled the TARDIS console - anticipating her eventual home? 4. With Gallifrey back in existence, why would other Time-Lords be so interested in targeting the Doctor? He hasn't stumbled on a plan, which he's then foiled, he's being actively worked against. Weren't the Master's last actions pro-Doctor? Isn't he sane now? Maybe he misses the sound of the drums... 5. The Valeyard is trying to bring out the bad side of the Doctor - killing or causing the death of the clockwork chap is just a start. Maybe there'll be other such casualties over the weeks. We'll think it's just part of the new 'darker Doctor - how many people are already saying they like the fact that the Doctor might have killed? Missy wants to ensure that when he regenerates, he's such an unpleasant character, she comes into existence. Or something. 6. She passed the Doctor's number on to Clara in 'Bells' to ensure that she'd be on site to prevent the Great Intelligence rewriting the Doctor's life. 7. That's why the TARDIS sometimes seemed to not like Clara - because despite the fact that she saved the Doctor (you'd think the TARDIS would love her) she might somehow lead to the Doctor being 'replaced' by the Valeyard.
Spoiler
Even by my low standards of deduction, all of this is extremely unlikely, but I've had some wine... |

The valeyard calls the Doctor his boyfriend? Somehow this doesn't work for me, its almost like saying Missy is the Masters girlfriend and the Master is trapped in Peter Capaldi with the Doctor, i.e. she is not talking bout the doc, great fan boy stuff but I'm not entirely convinced .......

And if we are making stuff up, then Missy is a weird splintered version of old Amy.

I hope the Gatekeeper is up there with the Guardians. Doctor Who needs a solid kick up the ethereal transcendental arse.
But she won't be. |

Could well be, but that means that if Time Lords can change sex after a regeneration then it could also possibly be the Meddling Nun!
![]() ![]() Actually, I'm hoping Michelle plays a new character- I would find it annoying if she were River Song/the Rani /Helen A in a new form. Maybe she's the Terribe Zodin mentioned in Peter and Colin's tenures? |
