Corrie seriously need some decent new characters

Why do they keep putting these boring people in like Hayley Tamadon? They need some new families not dead wood who cling on to already boring full time characters. They need to look what EastEnders does.

I agree. If you compare Corrie's cast to EE's cast you can see a major difference. Compare characters like Andrea and the Nazirs to characters such as the Carters (despite their flaws) and you can see that Corrie really does need to take drastic action.

I used to really love Corrie too

SB thinks Corrie is in a great place but it's actually crap. A new EP who is brave enough to axe the deadwood and bring in a new story team is urgently needed.

Yes I agree. Definitely need a new family. Corrie should take a risk and bring in a family all at once like the carters

They need to get rid of the deadwood first.

EastEnders tend to bring in much more interesting characters... The only thing the corrie cast have that EastEnders don't are longer serving cast members... The carters are a good family, however there are wayyyy too many of them, and they hog the screen! But at least we never see the boring Nazirs on corrie! A good job aswell because they are AWFUL!

Blackburn has introduced some real stinkers, it's been truly shocking. It says something when the boss's pet Maddie is probably the best of the bunch. Tamaddon and Jimi Mistry have both been enormous flops, utterly void of any personality or charisma.

Maybe working on the current ones would be a better idea than introducing more to bump up the numbers?

corrie is dire at the moment, yet every tv critic goes on as if its the best programme in the world

First and foremost what Corrie need is some decent scriptwriters. The dialogue given to both Helen Worth and Anne Kirkbride the last few weeks has been truly dreadful. An amateur dramatic production would leave it standing. What's going on? Is someone trying to deliberately make these actresses look bad and engineer an excuse to have them dropped? If I were them I would point blank refuse to spout the nonsense that is being written for them. They are being made to look like a pair of complete 'fruitloops'. Reducing them to one dimensional stereotypes of older people going a big doolally isn't clever or funny. Stop it.

I loved Andrea originally. But she's been given the disease that is Lloyd who wrecks every woman he is lumbered with.

Agreed OP
They should start with Blackburn and work their way down.

I agree, axe the really dire ones where there are no hope left for them like Michelle, Sean, Maddie and Dev. But characters like Sophie, The Nazirs and Andrea are good characters and have potential but need decent storylines to develop and make them better characters. Then we can start on bringing new characters in.

I agree. They actually have quite a strong cast hidden under all the rubble.

And knowing Corrie's track record, they could introduce ten new characters and only one of them would be semi-good.

And secondly some professional casting people; I assume the actors are auditioned before being put in front of us. I can't believe anyone thought Maddie and Andrea were good enough for Coronation Street - except the producer.

Be careful what you wish for - there are new characters coming.

Quite agree. New people being brought in has not been necessary. Work on the current actors and actresses before any of them decide to leave.

I think it takes quite awhile to get to know a character and until you do they are really of no interest...and yet SB puts them straight into major S/L that nobody is slightly interested in...making not only the story boring but the character also..

Totally agree, the nonsense that we heard from Deirdre over her "baby" Eccles was pathetic. What a load of rubbish she was talking, made her look like a right halfwit. Why are they portraying her like this, she isn't some doolally old person, she is a woman in her fifties who apparently works as a medical receptionist.

They have a few decent characters like Roy, Norris, and Mary, and Anna, but they are not getting much action at all. At the moment too much focus is on the characters who should always be in the background, such as Lloyd. Soaps need their background characters, but the mistake Corrie has made is to bring them to the forefront of things.

Apart from The Hat's Random Character Changer making Gail and Dreary simpletons, turning Sophie, who was a half decent character into a screeching, whining, hair tossing whiny little brat, Fizz was a decent enough character, now a whiny self obsessed nosy parker in the worst way, Todd coming back as a sly, nasty manipulative little con man.

But my main gripe is the introduction of Andrea, terrible actress, ever grinning face and was truly awful in Emmerdale, Maddie, ditto, so bl**dy dreadful you just want to punch her lights out on sight, the terrible Nazil family, just a random bunch of horrible people, stereotypical mother bellowing and bullying, the father, poking his nose in at the gym, seems to hang around just to ogle the females, a real slimeball, the daughter acts like a princess (a.k.a. Priya in Emmerdale) and now the son, who we just know is going to be a "bad boy" etc. The Platts with Max's ADHD is just toe curling. Seen it all before and it wasn't entertaining then.

The s/l are all so boring.

Leanne and Nick - axe Nick or get him a new head
Leanne and Kal - axe Kal
Maddie and Sophie - axe both
Andrea and Lloyd - definitely both should be axed
Michelle - axe her she is past her sell by date
Sean - axe him painfully a thousand times
Tony - axe him for being a nasty two faced sleazebag
Anna - axe her, who needs another Mother Theresa?
Just to save time: All the Armstrongs and all the Windyasses.

All those rotten characters on the street and Jim locked up.

Many won't agree but I quite like Maddie, she's better than many other more recent introductions.
