Is Lee Carter EastEnders very own Freddie Roscoe?
Awful acting, same facial expressions...
I can't decide wether he constantly looks stoned or looks like a baked potato

Lee has been a major disappointment for me as the Carter's have been great- Lee is definitely on my axe list.

Lee CANNOT act. There's no point of him being in the show, he just stands out like a sore thumb.

While Lee isn't great, he is nowhere near as bad as Freddie who is only able to widen his eyes and whisper his lines.

Nah, not really. Nowhere near as bad as Freddie's wide eye acting.
Lee is okay. |

A neutral view here as I watch both soaps and therefore don't hold any loyalty to either character or soap.
In terms of acting, they're both terribly wooden actors. Freddie's cartoonish facial expressions (> ) are something else though, he belongs in a US sitcom. But one thing I will say is that at least Freddie has an established characterization even if it is ridiculously inconsistent and annoying (basically he's a two-face, backing-stabbing, desperate c*nt). He also gets a lot of big storylines (more than he deserves!). Lee is just the Square's latest in a long line of dull "ladies men" with zero personality and characterization. His Army background is no saving grace either as they've done nothing with it. He's pretty much a blank slate unlike Freddie. However, Lee is still relatively new to EE so that might change. But I have a feeling he will just fade into the background like Tyler did in his final months on the show. He's limited as a character, even more so now with Whitney as his girlfriend.

Danny Boy Hatchard is meant to be a good actor but he is very wooden as Lee. Nancy & Johnny are much more interesting as characters.

I personally think the pointless casting of Lee has ruined the Carter family dynamics. I loved the family when it was Mick Linda Nancy and Johnny they've got a great chemistry and have gelled rally well together. The four of them make a very believable family unit. Lee sticks out like a sore thumb he cannot act or even speak clearly, has no chemistry with any of the family and doesn't appear to have any kind of personality or redeeming features. He's just the latest dull ladies man after Joey and Tyler etc who were equally as boring and void of any kind of personality.

The quickest way to render a character a dud is to put them in a relationship with Whitney Dean. Every bloke is "The One" until she cheats on them. Lee has proven to be a spare part and being put with Whitney goes a long way to showing the writers haven't got a clue what to do with him.

On paper Lee sounded good but on screen he has been pretty much a waste of space.
I think he will ultimately turn out to be Lucy's killer though with Whitney uncovering the truth. The irony being Whitney who hated Lucy's is the one who gets her justice by grassing Lee up to the police. So if that is how it plays out he may be gone by next spring. However Lee is no where near as bad as Freddie the is my only expression

No ones as bad as Freddie. Although Lee isn't the greatest actor in the world at least he doesn't over act with his facial expressions like intense Freddie does! Lol

Is he a ladies' man?
Now he's in a relationship with Whitney, but that's natural as all the ladies men get softened up and settle down over time (although it's happened all rather quickly with Lee). We saw all of that with Tyler as well. It won't be long before the relationship takes a wrong turn and Whitney cheats on him though .

I'm hoping that DTC will start to explore more of Lee's time in the army. Maybe of spot of post traumatic stress will see him flip, grab a gun and hold Whitney hostage - with a few others. It would be an easy way to remove some of the deadwood from the show with a few well placed shots during a siege.

I think people are being quite harsh to Danny-Boy Hatchard. Let's remember this is the first TV role and by his own admission he is learning his trade.
Last year he had his first stage role in the gay comedy drama Beautiful Thing and I thought he was pretty good. Amongst the cast was Suranne Jones, wonderful ex Corrie actress so a tough start for a young actor. Danny-Boy played one of the young gay characters and did a fine job (the whole play like the film is wonderful can be watched for a charge on the Digital Theatre website) In the last year Danny-Boy has been picked for roles in TV, Stage and is filming in a new movie which is not bad for a newcomer. Clearly people in the industry see potential in Danny-Boy. Let's give him a chance with a decent storyline before writing him off Just a final thought I love Lee with Nancy and Johnny they have a great chemistry together and for me the Carter family works better with Lee in it |
