Family not turning up to significant events

When John Barton died none of his family or Moira's family bothered to go, same when Moira married Cain, the girls were apparently in Guatemala but what about her mum - who I don't think Cain has even met?

Now it looks like no one has bothered to contact Scott or Kelly to tell them about Donna dying, will they even get a mention?

The police even said Bob was Donna's next of kin, totally ignoring her brother and sister.

On that last note ^^^ I think it is disgraceful that YTV/ITV have not allowed Ben Freeman to return as Scott Windsor! He was a popular character and was innocent of what he was accused of! There are storylines for him (so the writers cannot use that as an excuse!).....it was HIS Garage before Debbie took the helm!

The siege in the Woolpack last year

Oh, Cameron has just been disarmed. Let's try to escape via the flooded cellar instead of walking out the front door.

I agree there is a lot of material for Scott Windsor. Why has he not returned to claim his garage and property Even if Ben Freeman could not return, then Scott could have his "third head" (just like Nick in Corrie)

On Thursday last week James Barton left the pub to go see Ross and offer him a wad of cash to go visit his cousin in USA. Ross declined but went to the farm on Friday and asked if the offer was still there. James had just come in from working on the farm. When Ross asked he pulled the same wad of cash from his overall pocket. Really!

Would any sensible person work around a farm with all that cash in their pocket. Especially as he could have left it at home. Wait a minute though what am I saying. This is the same idiot that left £10,000 in cash on the dashboard of his van while he left it with the door open.

No wonder he lost his own farm.

I thought the same - and anyway, these days wouldn't they just book the flight online - no need to be waving all that cash around.

The upcoming storyline about Jimmy, it really wouldn't look out of place on HO.

He's an idiot.

Also can you drop a flight to the US in the same day? Don't you need a visa before you go or can you get one as soon as you land in the country for visiting like Thailand?

I think it's more ironic that you can't get into the USA if you have a criminal record - and we're supposed to believe that Ross has NO criminal record whatsoever!

Pretty much yes. You dont need a visa as they have a visa waiver program. You do need an ESTA instead but they are done online and are generally approved in less than a minute (I speak from experience on that). So that's not unrealistic.

Suspension of reality -

Family never mentioned - yes Kelly and Scott not being mentioned when Donna returned etc.

JOBS
Lisa Dingle - when introduced to the show was a Master Builder & mechanic. She was in business doing this for a while but suddenly her professional skills were forgotten and she became a sweetie packer on minimum wage.

Debbie - has already been mentioned. She left school at 14 but overnight became a qualified mechanic, taxi firm proprietor, gangster frightener etc.

Moira's business - already mentioned. Where does the meat come from? How can they supply all these businesses?

Eric - was an Antiques expert, then a wine bar owner who employed people to cook for him, suddenly became a qualified Chef overnight.

Rodney - was an antiques expert, then wine expert, then window cleaner and now he is struggling for money as a driver.

Marlon - read a book by Nigel Slater, bought some Chef's clothes and became a qualified chef overnight.

Chas - was a strip-o=gram, but then suddenly the writers invented a Degree in Business studies for her. And yet, she instantly knew how to run a Pub without going on any training courses etc.

Charity - was a Prostitute. And yet she instantly knew how to run a Haulage Business and later a garbage removal company.

FINANCES - almost none of the residents could realistically afford to live in the Village.
Marlon and Donna won a new house but had to get a mortgage to buy it.
Declan is destitute because of a failed festival and a house fire and yet is back to being rich again within minutes.
He had to sell his car to meet a mortgage payment at one point.
James lost 10,000 quid, and yet the Bartons were supposedly skint when the ten grand appeared. Now they are in funds again.
Doug lent Diane a fortune to pay off that Loan she was conned into taking out, and she struggled to pay him back, Chas bought into the Pub with not enough money to clear Diane's loan and yet it seems to have been miraculously paid off.
And the one that has always annoyed me most of all, is
Sam and the chicken farm in Norfolk inherited by Alice.
He inherited it when Alice died and yet we have had him struggling to live on a pittance for years. Sell the farm, Sam!
Nobody's finances in Emmerdale have EVER made any sense.

There's LOADS more stuff but I've bored myself now going on about it all.

Debbie did not leave school at 14. She went back to school after she had Sarah, after Emily persuaded Cain to let her. She also trained (literally lol) under Scott for months. So it's not that unrealistic for her to be a qualified mechanic.
Aaron did train under Debbie in his last stint on the show so he to is believable.

Everyone else who works there though seems to just be qualified.

not really unrealistic at all, loads of people from different working background work in factories considering stable employment can be very hard to come by in certain areas and maybe the factory suits her now she has a family.

Cows/Pigs/Sheep and the meat will come from set animals reproducing within season.

Why on earth did the Sharma's bring their sweetie factory to the back of beyond where the transport costs must be humungous, when they could have found a unit on an industrial estate in Leeds for half the price where they would have had no trouble with finding enough staff if the ones they had chose to take the day off at the drop of a hat?

How does David make any money from the shop - when heonly has about 3 or 4 customers a day?

How many people still go to the pub every night for a drink or something to eat?

Yes, but there's only (theoretically) the family doing all the work and we all know that they spend 90% of their time in the pub or taking days off or going on breaks. Even if they all worked 24/7 they couldn't do even a quarter of the work necessary to raise, slaughter, process/pack/deliver all that meat etc.

On t'other hand, the Sharma run an apparently successful toffee factory despite having more staff, (albeit mainly absent), than they do toffees, so why not?

?????
She had a lucrative business, was self employed and could work her diary around her family.

Ok, if her business had been struggling and a sweetie packing job was all she could take to make money - fair enough.
