But we've had a recession since then - maybe her building business hit the buffers

Yes but as you said it was a self employed one and some people when they have a family prefer to do a job in which they know the wage will be coming: how much and when.

Aaron did train under Debbie in his last stint on the show so he to is believable.

Everyone else who works there though seems to just be qualified.

”

It takes a 5 YEAR apprenticeship to become a qualified mechanic. 3 with College. It is very unrealistic. Aaron isn't believable for much the same reason plus he wasn't trained by a qualified mechanic so can never be qualified himself.

So you don't think its a suspension of reality that as a qualified mechanic the writers gave the Dingle garage business to the child Debbie and didn't have Lisa working there????
And yet Debbie gives work to other characters who turn up in the village and they all seem to get time off whenever they need it..

OK.

I think JoP has been guzzling the booze meant to go in the liqueur chocolates at the sweetie factory.

At least they showed Aaron going to a college course

But let's not forget - you don't have to be a qualified mechanic to work in a garage or own one - if you're not and your work is poor because of it you're customers just won't come back.
If the garage does MOT tests (which I think it does), then someone will have to be qualified for that.
There's nothing to say that Debbie or Cain hasn't done these courses off-screen

OK then - everything is believable because there's nothing to say it hasn't been explained off screen.

So none of us need ever be frustrated again about any incongruity that doesn't seem to make any sense.

Sorted.

Right, where's the wine.

No need to throw your toys out of the pram

We rarely see anyone going to the loo (except in the woolie) but we quite happily accept that they must do in their own homes.

For most of your suspension of belief "jobs" queries - I could find reasonable justification (even if it wasn't told to us paragraph by paragraph in the narrative) - Eric being a chef (for example), how many Masterchef winners have gone on to open their own restaurant (a fair few)

I will however - steer a wide berth from your financial incongruitys - most of them I completely agree with

Characters only go to the toilet, in public places, to tell someone off or to sleep with someone in there.

I wasn't.
Because I know how much you like to light my blue touch paper and laugh at me when I go off on one.

And you know perfectly well that the Woolpack Loo has always been Cain's office.
he's given some of his best threatening performances in there.

Sometimes it's to take drugs as well or stand out outside like some kind of sexual deviant waiting on someone to come out...because why wait at the bar like a normal person?

I miss the days when it used to be Cain's office - these days he's too busy doing flower arranging up at Moira's

One of his best threatenings in the Loo Office was when he grabbed Nathan by the tender bits to get his message across.

If you missed that one JoP you missed a treat.

So where IS the wine?

I'm well going to find that on YT. I've seen a little bit of Nathan. Loathe him.

I need wine, couldn't have any this weekend as I had a drug test for a job this morning. Thankfully we can back on it now as I'm clean.

They don't have to be a qualified mechanic. A Nominated Tester doesn't do any work on the car, they inspect it.
They only go down a list and tick things off (or not, as the case may be). They do however have to be approved and registered by VOSA after only a 2 day training course. They don't even need a driving licence if there's a rolling road installed and there usually is.
Haven't even seen a ramp or a pit in Dingle Automotive though and that's a necessity in any garage.

Good point and if Debbie had employed Lisa there would have been an excellent chance she wouldn't have worked with Derek and..well we know the rest. That Debbie! Kidding Star & Debbie. Derek was a sh*tebag

Hey, if we can believe that Aaron & Finn had a night of sex without ever seeing them even touching each other on screen (never mind talking to each other) - anything must be believable

don't be surprised if he wasn't a qualified mechanic as well.
AND a chef.

Everyone else is.

PS

Eric's got a Michelin star.
[It was awarded off screen ]

Good grief!! What is the world coming to? Thank god I'm not looking for a job, cos quite frankly I appear to have become unemployable. Have civil liberties been abolished altogether now then?
