Interesting. It wasn't for months on end, they must have added it. We only have the Irish sections in the Express stores round here. Is the Abingdon one a Superstore or an Express?
It's the first time I've seen an "Irish section" in any of them. I only saw it by chance, so anyone just looking for tea would likely miss the Barry's Tea. There was none with the rest of the teas. It annoys me a bit when they do this. By all means have a themed display, but make sure each item is represented where people would look for it as well. |

It's the biggest kind - Extra I think they call them.

Just had a look in my local Tesco Express and they definitely just have red and green Barry's. Our local Tesco Extra doesn't have an Irish section. |

I went into a Superstore today (think they go Express<Metro<Superstore<Extra) and they had none. No Irish section, and neither Barry's nor Punjana on the tea shelves.

Has anyone tried the PG Tips Gold teabags. Bought a box last night on offer for £2 for 80 Bags. If I'm being honest they are terrible, and make your mouth dry. I was tempted to try the PG Tips Fresh but after trying the Gold ones I'm not holding out too much hope.

I buy Tesco value 17p a box bags and I actually prefer them to main brands. Also Aldi Diplomat. You have to let them steep a bit longer but they don't have that same bitter taste that name brands seem to have.

Seriously though, there's a reason they're that cheap. But if you enjoy really poor quality tea then fair enough, I guess. |

think all tea, has gone down hill over past couple of years.. less tea in the bag. bag has shrunk in size, and the actual tea is weaker.. all brands are affected.. but which is the best brand of tea now on the market? for strength taste and price..

Well since I started this thread back in 2014 I no longer drink the 2 teas I mentioned (Yorkshire Hard Water & Typhoo) and now only drink PG Tips. I used to drink this brand alot when I was a kid, but as I grew up, I stopped drinking tea and started getting into coffee, but now back into tea again. My dad is the only one who won't touch PG Tips as he says it like dishwater, yet he drinks Tetley which I think is awful, anyone else agree with me

Barry's Tea is great but the one to go for is the one in the black box "Classic Blend". Sadly they don't sell it in the UK though.

Does anyone also just put the leaves striaght in the cup (that's what I do) or do you have some sort of contraption?
Have you not heard of a tea pot? ![]() Tea made in a cup or mug just doesn't taste like tea as far as I'm concerned. You might as well use any old crap if you do that. Having said that, I'm fully aware that some people will say that tea isn't really tea unless you use loose leaves. I've been through that phase but gor fed up of disposing of the used leaves in a way that wouldn't block the sink up. I can't honestly detect any major difference between loose tea and good quality tea bags. |

I am afraid I am going to lower the tone! QT instant in out house. Mainly because my fella can't have dairy so we never had milk in the fridge. I bought the QT from pound shop and have drunk it ever since. The last few times I have had tea made with a bag it gave me heartburn

Yorkshire Tea bags. Always stock up on them when they're on offer.

D Tea, formerly Brooke Bond D, a brand now owned by Typhoo. No longer available in supermarkets but still sold in Poundland and in some small convenience stores. 120 bags for £1 in Poundland, and I'd put it on a par with Typhoo, but not quite in the same league as Yorkshire Tea: http://www.poundland.co.uk/food-and-...-50-extra-free.
D Tea's packaging is identical to that of the early 1990s, minus the words 'Brooke Bond'. |
