If you had to choose 30 characters, 15 women and 15 men that you consider as the most iconic/legendary/important characters in Corrie's long history which characters would you pick? They don't have to be characters you even liked or see as a favourite, just literally the most iconic. These are mine

01. Annie Walker
02. Ena Sharples
03. Elsie Tanner
04. Hilda Ogden
05. Bet Lynch
06. Vera Duckworth
07. Ivy Tilsley
08. Rita Fairclough
09. Audrey Roberts
10. Gail Platt
11. Deirdre Barlow
12. Blanche Hunt
13. Liz Mcdonald
14. Hayley Cropper
15. Eileen Grimshaw

01. Ken Barlow
02. Albert Tatlock
03. Len Fairclough
04. Alf Roberts
05. Stan Ogden
06. Jack Duckworth
07. Fred Gee
08. Mike Baldwin
09. Jim Mcdonald
10. Steve Mcdonald
11. Terry Duckworth
12. Alan Bradley
13. Richard Hillman
14. Roy Cropper
15. David Platt

Of course there are many other characters like Mavis, Betty, Kevin, Sally. I just think these 30 are the ones that come into my mind above any others

Coronation Street has always been all about the women, so thinking of 15 iconic men is much harder than thinking of 15 iconic women. I can rattle them off easily: Elsie, Ena, Hilda, Bet, Annie, Rita, Mavis, Betty, Audrey, Gail, Sally, Vera, Deirdre, Emily, Hayley.

Iconic men? Stan, Ken, Roy, Len, Alf, Jack and that's where I come to a halt

Current female characters who have the potential to be iconic - Eva, Kylie, Carla, Beth, Mary

Corrie has a long history of tough, formidable, fierce women but i actually think she was possibly THE fiercest of them all

I'd replace Ivy Brennan with Betty Williams

I very much agree.Such a shame the bust up between Lynne and the producers depriving us of an Ivy onscreen exit.I wonder how they would have written her out if Lynne hadnt of walked?

Not a bad effort. I have made some adjustments. My changes are in bold and they are in no particular order. I have removed Platt because he is just a puny irritant. I have removed Hillman. He just wasn't in it long enough.

Oh thanks for doing that

I would have put all those you named on if i had space, i could have done a top 40 but i thought it might be going too far. I still believe Ivy has a place on the list but i agree Betty Turpin should be there as well
