From reading the Now TV forums it's clear that the 4OD app hasn't worked on the Roku box for a long time if ever.

Now TV advise people to complain to Channel 4.

The Channel 4 app doesn't work on my Samsung Smart Blu ray player either so I think it's safe to assume that Channel 4 couldn't give a shit about catch up TV.

Tom i agrre with you as a few months ago I bought a Digisender smart media center box from aei running on android 4.2.2 and it's never worked on my box the app version is 3.3 so it's no wonder it's never worked i had a similar problem with itv player which was on version 3.1 this didn't work but got on to itv player support they updated the app to version 4. and its fine now, how ever channel 4 like you said aren't bothered about their catch up service interesting the error message i get is no network connection or speed too slow not true in either case my isp has done numerous tests and my line speed is fine
and m connection is active just read the reviews on google play under channel 4 OD app
cheers!

The 4OD channel is working fine on my Roku LT, which is basically the same as the now TV box. I think the only difference between the LT and the Now TV box is the firmware, have you checked you are running the latest firmware?

I just tried the 4OD app (v 3.2 / 4451) on my Sony Xperia Tablet Z (Android 4.4.2) and it also works fine. The problem with budget Android devices is that they sometimes use unusual combinations of different chipsets/bits of hardware that apps don't support. One advantage of the iOS world is a much smaller range of hardware devices that need to be supported.

I emailed Channel 4 last week about this problem. Their auto reply said they'd get back to me in 24 hours. I'm still waiting.

I haven't been on here for a while but it's clear 4 od is causing huge problems
for users of the service. I bought a Digisender smart media box you plug in your tv one of the reasons i bought the box was because it boasted on the tv demos on bid tv and price drop tv and on boot up catch up tv, video on demand and live radio i don't blame the developers of the box but the blame must lie with the broadcasters like 4od and itv player and on demand 5
these apps were preinstalled on the device and don't work for eg the error messages on 4 od are check net work connection or speed is too slow this is bull crap sorry for cussing guys my line has been checked by my isp and everything is fine more later cheers
